About this deal

Cut Them Down– Word Bearers must always make Sweeping Advances when possible, and must re-roll Sweeping Advance roll results of “1”. All terrain pieces were given a wash of pigment powder mixed with water. I used a ratio of approx. 3 parts pigment to 1 part of water. Thousands of the Gal Vorbak were left to die, alone and unsupported, on the surface of the devastated world of Calth when First Chaplain Erebus fled the conflict that the Word Bearers had fought against the Ultramarines on that benighted world. These Word Bearers had been left to die. They would never be reinforced. They would never be recovered. All those Gal Vorbak who spent months of their lives fasting, praying, scarring their flesh in preparation for a chance to taste the Divine Blood, were lost. And on top of that, if it explodes, its S6 AP5 in a seven inch (“Massive”) blast with Soul Blaze . This makes the Mhara Gal a terror in close combat, as the usual Contemptor-killers like Cataphractii are swinging on 5+ to hit it, and a lot of the “usual” anti tank weapons are blunted. Dry brushing again with a brighter metallic, Runefang Steel in my case, focusing on hitting the edges of everything.

The eyes of Horus were painted with a thin glaze of Khorne Red, a second thin glaze on the top 85% of the eye with Khorne Red, and then progressively brighter red-to-yellow getting higher on the eye. V- Keshig • Ebon Keshig • Golden Keshig • Falcon's Claws • Karaoghlanlar • Kyzagan • Sagyar Mazan • Stormseer • These can be taken in squads of up to 10, and start at a unit of 5 for 200 pts. This is very good value – they come with Rending, Deep Strike, Rage, Stubborn and the Daemon special rule, which gives them a good base for strong close combat performance. The basic Dark Brethren have 2 wounds each, S, T, WS and I 5 on top of that – they will outperform basic Marines in every way. The Dark Martyr does one better, with 3 Wounds and the ability to take a S10 Power Fist. Reduced to only three active companies in number, the direct favour of Lorgar was bestowed upon the survivors and resulted in the elevation of their leader, Argel Tal, to the post of Chapter Master of the XVII th Legion's Serrated Sun Chapter. These "Dark Brethren" became the first of the Daemonhosts later known as the Possessed amongst the Forces of Chaos. Firstly, I want to prime everything with Citadel Spray Wraithbone, but to ensure I get the right colour and finish, I’ll then paint everything again with Wraithbone from the pot, which I’ll also need to tidy up any mistakes.Mindless Killers means if Zardu is dead, then they become “mindless” and have to go towards the nearest enemy and charge – which is pretty crap as they’re footslogging. They also have plasma pistols, which I guess is OK. Whatever the reality, the Imperial Heralds were swiftly renamed the Word Bearers. Shortly after this, troubling news reached the Throneworld of Terra – Lorgar was openly espousing worship of the Emperor as a divine being, in direct conflict with the atheist teachings of the Imperial Truth. Hue is where a colour sits on the standard rainbow gradient that goes from the truest of red to the purest of violet. IV- Iron Circle • Iron Havoc • Stor-Bezashk • Tyranthikos • Tyrant Siege Terminator • Dodakathik • Thunderstrike • Thunderburst • Warsmith • Castellan Rhino •

I painted Horus’ face shortly after the Warhammer+ video on painting Caucasian skin debuted, and that informed my thinking as to how to paint Horus. Finally, however, there is a great upgrade for Lorgar called Lorgar Transfigured – which I think is a must take for this Primarch. For 75 pts (he starts cheaper than most as it is – so this isn’t too bad), he becomes a Level 3 Psyker who can select powers from Divination and Telekinesis, and manifests on a 3+ rather than a 4+. If you don’t take this, the Erratic Psychic Power rule is used instead, which makes Lorgar a terrible Level 2 Psyker choosing randomly and manifesting a 5+ – this is absolutely dreadful, so take this upgrade! If a world refused to accept the secular Imperial Truth, the Imperial Heralds would be responsible for tearing down their idols, burning their sacred texts, and purging incorrect thought from the subjugated populace. It may be their close involvement with the wychery and warpcraft practiced on these doomed worlds that helped hasten the fall of the Word Bearers; we will never truly know. The new Kill Team boxed set introduces us to the Octarius Killzone and the Ork settlements that spot its landscape, along with all new Ork terrain. These large heaps of scrap can be daunting to paint so if you’re looking at yours and wondering how you can create something that’s both visually interesting but easy to paint, we’ve got you covered. In this guide we’re talking about building and painting the new terrain, and techniques for painting Ork Terrain that will produce great results. Robert “TheChirurgeon” Jones’ Method The Word Bearers had culled their ranks down through the solar decades, removing such unrepentantly Loyalist elements as the Terran-born warriors of their Legion, but had carried out no purge like the Istvaan III Atrocity that the World Eaters' Primarch Angron was so proud of. Lorgar knew that the loyalty of his own Legion to both him and his vision of Mankind transformed through an embrace of Chaos was never in doubt, but competence was another matter entirely. Lorgar asked what should be done with those warriors of the XVII th Legion he felt were no longer reliable; those whose hatred burned brighter than their sense. The Word Bearers have access to a wide range of unique upgrades, allowing for some real flavour to be added to any force. A fast-strike specialist who oversaw the Battle of Calth, Hol Beloth is a Praetor level character who can ignore the first failed save of any game (really good!), and can increase all Word Bearers Legionaries to WS5 (if they aren’t already that or better) for one turn once per game. This can lead to some devastating charges, particularly as he causes Fear if he is the Warlord. Historically, my approach to ork scenery is generally MAXIMUM SPEED with just enough tonal variation to not look turbo lazy. These shanties were lovingly bodged together about a decade ago and are still seeing regular service on the table; With the release of the new Kill Team box it seems like maybe the time has finally come for the shanty hamlet to expand to a shanty village. Hell yeah. Horus turns out to be one of the easier Forge World Primarchs to build, consisting of only a few pieces with some relatively intuitive places. You have Horus’ body, his right arm (with the Talon of Horus), left arm (with Worldbreaker), his cape with part of the wolf pelt, his head, and two sets of pturges – one for his crotch and one for his right arm. For the most part, I kept all of these parts separate for sub-assembly purposes.

Now, and this next bit is very important: if you’re using the big brush then thin. your. paint. More than normal. A big honkin’ brush like this will fill all the surface detail if you aren’t careful. Test it on a small area first then adjust your paint consistency as needed before continuing. Emma: For the Tyranids, there are lots of variations of fleshy parts for their symbiotic weapons. The Barbgaunts ’ bio-cannons get a Khorne Red basecoat and a highlight of Tuskgor Fur , and I used Gal Vorbak Red for the mouth and talons of the Psychophage . For the luminous brain matter of the Neurotyrant and Neuroloids, I applied some thinned Frostheart for a creepy blue glow. For 175 pts, Zardu Layak is a real steal – he has a great range of rules, and allows for very interesting army builds, while being not bad in a fistfight if called upon.

Veteran Squad • Terminator Squad • Destroyer Squad • Moritat • Champion Consul • Honour Guard • Nullificator For over four decades the XVIIth Legion wore the false face of loyalty and planted the seeds that would eventually bloom into civil war…” On top of all this, he counts as a Diabolist for the purpose of Legion rules and Rites of War, and grants Dark Channelling with a +1 modifier. The latter actually isn’t great – it makes the Daemon result more likely, as opposed to the arguably “better” Preferred Enemy or +1 Strength. The Wolf, at this point for me, was two different colors – a dark grey up top, and a lighter grey at the bottom. I sought to unify these colors by giving them both a light drybrush of Fenrisian Grey and then Wolf Grey. The whole assembly was then carefully coated with Contrast Space Wolves Grey, to give it a look much different from the rest of the model. The “bone bits” of the dangling skulls, teeth, and claws were painted with Screaming Skull, and then washed with Skeleton Horde.

Basilisk • Medusa • Whirlwind ( Scorpius • Hyperios) • Vindicator ( Laser Destroyer) • Arquitor ( Graviton • Spicula • Morbus) • Rapier • Heavy Quad Launcher • Tarantula Just as a preliminary note – the Word Bearers currently have the most special units and characters of any Legion. You can really go wild with these! Mhara Gal Tainted Dreadnought

Charlie B’s Method

Primarch • Legion Master • Praetor • Centurion • Space Marine Command Squad • Chief Apothecary • Forgemaster • Chief Librarian • Herald • Decurion Lorgar unfortunately has a poor reputation amongst his brother Primarchs – he is usually thought of as the runt of the litter, and not someone who is going to stand toe to toe with any of his peers.
