About this deal

Guilty Women is the latest book from best selling author Melanie Blake, it follows on from her previous release Ruthless Women. Read the first book and enjoyed it for its light hearted trashiness so was looking forward to this one. However, it was a total letdown. It definitely will be brought to the screens no question and I believe in many languages and many different countries because it’s been bought by so many different territories. For the UK version I’m going to keep my cards close to my chest, because that’s the one I’d probably have the most say in so I probably shouldn’t elaborate on my casting choices. But as far as Hollywood goes, my top list would be Goldie Hawn, Meryl Streep, Courtney Cox, Jane Fonda, Melanie Griffith, Sharon Stone, Mira Sorvino, Reece Witherspoon, Lucy Liu, Halle Berry and Jennifer Anniston to name just a few. Seems that a man was murdered during the rehearsal dinner, and unfortunately for the detective, there are four confessions. Each confession is said to have been created by that person and that person alone.

It's an interesting story with intriguing characters, one too many for me, but a book that maybe it's worth reading just because it's more outside of the norm. I wanted somewhere that was not too far from England and was near to another country, in this case France, to give it that sort of exotic Riviera type feel but also still believable because they say write about what you know, and I wanted it to be believable that you could imagine that this place was real. What I never imagined though was that hundreds of thousands of readers all over the world would now believe that St Augustine’s Cove, the fictitious location where the fictitious soap opera Falcon Bay is set, is actually real. Apparently at one point it was one of the 10th most searched places on Google, how crazy is that. DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Sourcebooks, Landmark for providing a digital ARC of Pretty Guilty Women by Gina La Manna for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions. It’s difficult to say too much without spoiling it, but what I will say is 1, I hope there is another book and 2, it definitely feels like the bad guys won the day. Although it’s actually ludicrous to say, because the bad guys are actually the good guys, it’s just we don’t like them! Some friendships, both old and new can be meaningful, dependable and supportive regardless of their length or their history. But when push comes to shove these women will do anything and everything to protect each other. This is the lesson they learned.I can’t say I liked or got closed to any of the characters as there are way too many for my liking and maybe it felt harder to keep up with everyone in the end. It really reads as a big tv drama soap opera, maybe the older versions like Dynasty or even Dallas. Fiona Cummins is another favourite 'dark read' author, and Into The Dark takes us further into the realms of what would you do for your best friend.

Let’s cut to the chase and save us some time— I am responsible for a man’s death tonight. Is that what you needed to hear?”

A glamorous look behind the scenes of a longing running tv drama and a tabloid look into the lives of a bunch of characters associated with it.

The title of this book sounds much like Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty but this is not the same book. Not even close. This one tells a choppy tale of four different women who are together at a wedding. Three are old college friends of the bride (although they haven't spoken in years) and the fourth is a woman in her 70's (family) and enjoys hanging out at the bar. In fact, most of this book involved wine or champagne drinking. But then life had happened, and kids, and finances, and insurance, and lost pink shoes. And somewhere in the mess of suburbia and second jobs and the monotony of daily life, love just seemed so hard sometimes. women confess to the murder of a man during a rehearsal dinner for a friends wedding. All of their stories are different and the police are confused - why would 4 women all say they did it? The women are all at the luxury spa resort for week long wedding celebration for their college friend. They haven't seen each other for quite a while so it is a reunion for them all. There are also the new friends that they make along the way. As the story is told we hear about the past, their secrets and dramas and how they all tie in together. You’re a huge advocate of older women in the media and have spoken previously about the disrespectful way some older actresses are treated. Do you think things are changing for the better? Do we still have a long way to go?

It's well written and the characters are all flawed in one sense or another. It's not highly suspenseful except for the fact that the reader gets no hint of who the murdered man is. It seems like all the women have a motive for killing the men in their lives. Four friends from college descend on the spectacular Serenity resort and spa, nestled on the Californian coastline. They have gathered to celebrate the wedding of a friend, but this event of the year is marred by a murder that takes place at the luxurious resort complex. All four women put up their hand to having murdered the man. Each states that they acted alone and not in unison. As the investigation begins, secrets held by each of the foursome is revealed. One is plagued by family problems, another leaves behind a trail of broken relationships, one has a suspect reputation that immediately draws suspicion, while the last of this friendship circle believes that her wealth will get her out of trouble. Gina LaManna’s latest book is about secrets, lies, revelations, deception and complicated relationships.

Very predictably and much anticipated I thought this would also make a stellar movie. My choice of cast: There are the two other characters who are central but not part of the college friends—Lulu and Sydney. Lulu was probably my favorite character in some ways, a woman who fought her way into a string of marriages that paid off, and now is truly in love and worried she’ll lose him. Sydney is a young mother they meet in the bar. I really was curious and Sydney and she ends up being a really interesting part of the story as the book goes on. Lots of interesting tidbits in the story about Sydney, but you’ll have to read it to find those out! What it's about: The Banks wedding is going to be a huge week-long affair, and Whitney who is marrying into the Banks' family invites her old college friends Ginger, Kate, and Emily to the wedding where they also meet Lulu who is married to a Banks' family member. All of these women basically have nothing in common but insist that they all killed the same man... alone. Why would these women confess to the same murder? Pretty Guilty Women explores relationships and all the hidden secrets friends can keep from each other. But one of them is on the edge of telling the truth - and no show in the world could survive this scandal…
