About this deal

There were also some really bad plot devices used, and I would argue that the two that bother me the most are both Macguffins-the sole purpose only to further the plot. Those would be:

one thing i hate more than… peas. or the texture of broccoli. IS DOORMAT WOMEN AND HOE-ING MEN. guess what this book had? 😠 GUESS 😠 For example when Marley called the authorities on Hunter for drunk driving it made it seem like the blame was all on her and she was in the wrong when really it was him. He blamed her the whole time and she thought she was in the wrong too and I just made me so angry because it was not her fault at all. Hunter was fixated on hating Marley because she was from the city, because his ex was also from the city?? It came across as very misogynistic. His anger was misplaced, and was not excusable, even with the trauma of loosing his mom. I expected so much groveling when he realized he liked her, but she just... caved? I didn't really care if Hunter was hooking up with Britt and other girls prior to getting together with Marley. Like he wasn't exclusive with anyone. Mans was a single man and there is such a thing as casual sex and dating. He did nothing wrong in that aspect, he wasn't leading anyone on and he wasn't cheating.

During the Braves training camp, Lane swapped law anecdotes with fellow ballplayer and attorney-in-waiting Wade Lefler (whose pinch hits would help the Washington Senators to the 1924 pennant). Lane had already successfully tried cases in 1923 and had been appointed a judge in his hometown of Buntyn, Tennessee. 21 By April, Lane was farmed to the Worcester (Massachusetts) Panthers of the Class A Eastern League. 22 There he claimed an infield spot. 23 Lawyers Trying for Job with the Boston Braves,” Brooklyn (New York) Daily Eagle, April 9, 1924: 28. I’m sorry but I was really excited for this book and I was so happy when I finally found out it came out but reading it really let me down. AGAIN- I have to reiterate- The marketing of this book. I think if it would have been marketed more like an “Ugly Love” by Colleen Hoover, I wouldn’t have had such a visceral reaction to all of the atrocities Hunter commits but because it was marketed(on TikTok by the author) as this great love story, it was so disappointing. The author made it seem(on TikTok) like we were getting this amazing book boyfriend who stands up for our heroine against this awful ex but that’s not what happens. Her whole marketing plan was only derived from the last 20% of the book and seems really manipulative now.

Heading into 1923, it was said that Lane “will have three branches open to him—baseball, coaching, and law.” 13 In March 1923, outfielder and team captain Lane was denied another year of baseball eligibility for the University. 14 So he signed a new pro contract with the Pioneers. 15 In the same month, he was granted a state license to practice law. 16 I really enjoyed the story and my heart dropped at a certain part toward the end...so that was fun... Also, his dad, stepmom, best friend and everyone in town should get arrested for letting him drive drunk practically every day. Like yea I get that your mom died but why are his family/friends normalizing the fact that he goes to the bar every single day and also don’t speak up when he drives drunks every day even though a DRUNK DRIVER was the reason the mom died???? I seriously never hated a love interest until I read this book. John Hunter, Thomas Lane, and Vivek Jampala have spent the bulk of their legal careers collaborating together on criminal cases. Despite working for separate offices, it was seldom that one of these attorneys would try a case, litigate a motion, or pursue an appeal without the help and input of the other two. In their early careers, they routinely worked in concert with one another to draft briefs and motions for many of South Texas’ finest criminal defense attorneys, granting them valuable insights from experienced professionals and helping them stay on the cutting edge of criminal defense practice.Like i’m sorry idgaf if he changed or not PERSONALLY i think he changed a little too late like he was a litttle bitch boy omg and i’m glad marley called him out and said that what happened to him doesn’t give him an excuse to be rude to people YEA SHE ATE WITH THAT ONE. not only that but how tf can you like a girl and still sleep with other people like….??? manwhore😒 reading those scenes made me uncomfortable like woah girl you’re doing all this while main homegirl lowkey crushing on you. OH AND IT PISSED ME OFF WHEN HE GOT MAD AT MARLEY LIKE WOAHHHH HOLD ON NOW but he’s a virgo and virgo men are evil
