The owners said they have no current plans other than taking some time off, but added there could be a future opportunity to revive the Look Mum No Hands name. With the extra money, we can schedule additional Workshops and Outreach. As part of our mission and ethos, we aim to run community workshops alongside performances. These will cover areas such as writing for theatre, devising and cycling engagement/ discussion. We already have a number of partners who are interested in this side of our project and look forward to meeting lots of new faces on the road! I started seeing parallels with the global trauma we were all experiencing; identity, life choices, relationships all came into question for many people, as they do in this play – and as they did for me during 2020. Taking the time to reassess what I wanted to do and what stories I wanted to tell, was key to sharing this story of hope and survival within the current climate. What ’s been the biggest challenge for youin translating this story for the stage?
We always welcome the opportunity to support other agencies with our enforcement teams’ wide-ranging expertise. By using the latest technology and techniques we can target drivers and vehicles who pose the greatest risk to road safety. Even though this play is about the trauma of a road accident, there’s also a lot of comedy – as Vee isn’t always the most trustworthy narrator… and some things are stranger than fiction! This new one person play is inspired by a real life cycling collision Lila experienced in 2010. Exploring the female identifying cycling experienceand the phenomenon known as Post Traumatic Growth, Look, No Hands has been made in partnership with the fantastic female and non-binary cycling club .Still chatting away on his phone, the driver remains oblivious to the fact he is being filmed as he takes the exit off the A500 - followed by police travelling behind who had been alerted by officers in the National Highways HGV cab. We wanted to show a female cyclist POV in Look, No Hands, so we popped a 360 degree camera on a harness on one of the Velociposse members to film live footage during a cycling tour of London Monuments – and that’s what audiences will see projected in the play. What have you learned about Post Traumatic Growth, and how do you hope to share that with audiences? The record was leaked in May 2010 before being officially released in August. The song entered the Hot 100 at #45 and rose to a highest position of #13. It has been certified 3x platinum by RIAA. The music video was also released in August and features a cameo from DJ Drama. While it is usually used in the context of hands-free bike riding, it doesn't have to be. He details his early childhood in a loving family. He is continually frustrated by the authorities attempting to force him to wear prosthetics which are cumbersome and cause injury. Until he reaches his teenage years and finally throws off the burden once and for all by refusing to wear them. It reminded me of David casting off Saul's heavy armour in favour of his slingshot. Much of the book is devoted to these frustrations and how he manages them.
