Professional Finish: Achieve a professional and finished look for your polycarbonate sheet installation. There are two methods to fix polycarbonate sheets to a structure. We shall look at both methods. Here are the steps for the first method, whereby you fasten the sheet directly to the frame. If goods aren't sent by our own vehicles they are sent by reputable carriers such as Tufnell's, Fed-Ex and Parcel Force. Heavier goods may be delivered by larger vehicles and will be off loaded as close as possible to the property whilst remaining on a hard standing surface. You will need to pre-drill the glazing bar in preparation for fixing to the rafters - at approximately 400mm centers staggered on alternate sides. If your structure joins another building, you may need to add flashing to the sheets and roofing to make it weatherproof. An independent polycarbonate structure won’t need flashings. Glazing bars are installed on each of the rafters. Before installing the glazing bars, you will first need to insert the seals either side of the bar base. The use of silicone lubricant can make the installation of the seals easier. Your timber frame needs to be constructed so that it can firmly hold your sheets. The main risk with this type of design is an uplift wind that can catch under the sheets and pull them off, but as long as the sheets are securely and correctly attached to the frame then your structure should be safe and sound. Prepare the rafters ready for the glazing bars. Different types of glazing bars attach in different ways, so it is important to understand which type you have and adjust accordingly. Step 3 Movement Accommodation: They allow for slight movement of polycarbonate sheets to accommodate natural expansion and contraction, maintaining sheet integrity. Some of our products, because of their size (5m and over) and weight (over 80 kilos), have an estimated 5 to 7 working day lead time but we will endeavour to get them to you as soon as possible.
