About this deal

Chapter 181 is focused on Tortura once again, with her accidentally buying a shirt that's far more expensive than she expected and trying to justify it to herself. Tortura loves bunnies. Chapter 95 is devoted to her fighting the Cuteness Overload when presented with one (and giving in as soon as she gets an opening). Chapter 175 has her take her lunch break early because she can't stop watching bunny videos on the Internet instead of doing her job.

Vague Age: Outside of Mao-Mao, who's clearly a kid, and her parents and Tortura, who're clearly adults, it's kinda difficult to pinpoint what's anybody's age in this series. The Princess is the best example: she's the commander of a legion, and has been in many battles, but she looks like a teenager at most. Resurrective Immortality: Elisabeth coughs up her own heart for him to swallow when she's entombed in the Diablo pillar at the end of volume 5, escalating his existing Healing Factor to full-blown immortality. On a meta level, the initial visual and teaser trailer for the anime both look like what you'd usually expect from a series with this title - the brave Princess defiant in the face of the Hellhorde's vicious torments. The reality is very different. The various "tortures" inflicted on the Princess consist of offering her tasty foods, playing video games with her, or showing her cute animals. The primary gag of the series is that these seemingly silly "tortures" regularly work, as the Princess succumbs to eat that food, play games with her new friends, or cuddle with cute critters. It's also the fate that awaits her once her task is complete. She's taken to her execution ground and the fires set in volume 3, but is "saved" when Kaito springs his Zero-Approval Gambit. Epic Fail: The basketball game in Chapter 50 ends with a score of 6-4. As Ex points out, baseball games have higher scores than that. Blunt "No": The protagonists responding "Hard pass" to other characters' demands becomes a bit of a Running Gag by book five. In 2020, the series ranked second in the Next Manga Award in the web manga category. [25] Makoto Yukimura, author of Vinland Saga, recommended the series, calling it his "favorite manga these days". Summon Magic: Elisabeth mainly fights by summoning fanciful torture and execution implements out of Hammerspace (it's not explained exactly how she produces them). Sealed Good in a Can: He ends the apocalypse in volume 6 by forming contracts with both God and Diablo, sealing them and himself in a crystal at the World's End—along with Hina, who broke in while it was forming so her husband wouldn't be alone in his eternal slumber. Made of Iron: Much like Elisabeth, Kaito is so used to pain from his previous life that, even discounting the durability of his golem body, he can take a tremendous amount of punishment before even being seriously hindered. With his golem body, he shrugs off limb loss and disembowelment without losing his cool. His father would literally carve information into his skin with a knife when he didn't want him to forget it, which Kaito himself has Elisabeth do when he has trouble remembering her castle's floor plan. Midway through volume 1, he has her carve her teleportation circle into his stomach as part of a Zany Scheme, and as a result he is able to reconstruct it from memory at the climax of the battle with Vlad. Boxed Crook: Elisabeth was taken prisoner by the Church after fighting her uncle Vlad and the Kaiser, and is under a geas to slay the other thirteen ranked demons and their contractors. Once that task is complete, she'll be executed. Unusual Euphemism: When things go wrong in Chapter 98, the Princess lets out a shout of, " Sugar honey iced tea!"

Gilga

Chapter 171 has the Hell-Lord getting tempted by the thought of Mark-D's while on his way to give the acceptance speech for the Hellhorde Distinguished Service.

Where I Was Born and Razed: Elisabeth tortured the entire population of her hometown to death in the process of becoming the Torture Princess. Anachronism Stew: The story overall is implied to be set in a typical medieval fantasy world, with the Princess' home playing all those tropes straight, but the Hordes of Hell might as well live in modern Japan with all its modern conveniences.

Cheaters Never Prosper: During the preliminary battle royale of the martial arts tournament in Chapter 86, all four of the other contestants immediately agree to gang up on the Princess to make sure she doesn't win the prize. They completely forgot that she's still the prized Warrior Princess of the human kingdom, and get utterly floored by her, without her needing to put in any real effort to do so. The same applies to the Princess, as she admits to cheating on her math tests, so when the time comes for the math round, she utterly flunks it. Mundane Luxury: While the "tortures" the Hell-Horde offer the Princess vary all along the line, Giant's "tortures" are of this sort. They include time in a hot spring, talking a walk at night, and literally lying under a tree and doing nothing. In chapter 73, Vanilla brings the Princess to an ice rink just so they can skate together... but the Princess assumes it's a "torture" session and resists temptation, and Vanilla is too proud to admit she just wanted to play together. And then it turns out Vanilla has never skated before, and it's much harder than she assumed. Team Mom: An extremely pleasant, affectionate woman, she serves as a surrogate mother to the Princess, to the point the Princess actually calls her "Momma" (and later "Master Momma").

Punny Name: During chapter 48's "torture", the Princess reveals that if one is thinking of ending the world, they could try bringing together the three legendary holy blades Ex, Deus, and Machina.Robosexual: Kaito's primary love interest is Hina, a Ninja Maid automaton that Vlad built for Elisabeth in her childhood. Elisabeth reveals in volume 3 that she's even fertile. Chapter 176 features the Hell-Lord and his family going bug-catching in winter at Mao-Mao's request.
