Place the second piece of baking parchment on top of the patch, being careful not to disturb the patch. Leave the PVC glue to dry overnight to allow it to set completely. Failure to do this may result in the repair patches slipping or moving out of place.

When applying a patch repair, it’s important that it goes onto a clean surface as possible. Therefore it’s important to try and clean the affected area as much as possible. If you do end up with glue on the iron, find a piece of scrap fabric such as an old t-shirt, turn the iron up to 3 and rub the glue off onto the t-shirt.Line up the patch over the cut. This can be made easier by using a tailor’s pencil to draw a line extending either side of the cut, leaving a clearance of about 3cm either side (we don’t want chalk or wax under the patch). The centre of the patch can then be aligned with the tailor’s pencil line. If cared for properly your Stormline product should last you years. We have a couple of options available for field waterproof repairs, but we know other patches are available. We recommend applying a Rab repair patch of suitable size – a circle is best for this to avoid lifting corners; but any patch is better than none.Take a pair of scissors and cut the PVC patch so that it covers the area. We think it’s a good idea to cut the patch so that is around an inch bigger than the damaged area so that you can cover it completely. To start the process be sure to clean the area that is damaged thoroughly with soapy water or an alcohol solution. This will ensure that your PVC rain gear or waterproof clothing is as near to sterile as possible. If you don’t do this step there is a chance that bacteria can live in the damaged area and cause the clothing to smell or decay over time. In most cases, though, using only Tenacious Tape is suitable. Depending on which type of tape you have — e.g., a roll or pre-cut patches— step three will be different: We will always try our best to repair a Montane product however there are some instances when a product is beyond repair, please bear this in mind.
