About this deal

Tim is the only person who his younger brother knows that could finish an Agatha Christie novel and still not know who did it. Cullen catches Kim while her wounds are raw. And when he finds a new salmon facility is secretly being built nearby, he casts around for the help of Big Paul. He is also a journalist and for a long time was a dependable right-of-centre voice for Conservative-supporting newspapers – though not any more.

He is appalled by the venom directed at, for example, JK Rowling. “Whatever her views are, she should not be put in a position where death threats are made,It is clear the author has put a lot of work into this, and it's a good effort. Nobody gets it right first time, though there are a few digs at the author's fishy past which impart the feeling that this is more of a therapeutic exercise that had culminated in a story. He added: "Normally when you read one of my stories, I may have written it half a dozen times. It’s been edited. All the spelling mistakes (and unnecessary violence) have been taken out. It’s been put into a nice cover with illustrations beside the text. It is, in other words, a book.

The author Anthony Horowitz, is very kind hearted, as all the royalties from this book are going to charity Suffolk Home Start that supports children and families across the country. This is the first book in the series I have read but it worked fine as a standalone. It is full of humour, quips, one-liners, and silly moments, as well as action, adventure, and mystery.Horowitz says he “discovered” he was a writer at the prep school to which he was sent at the age of eight. He hated it and was frequently beaten by the headmaster. Even decades later, a visit to the place provoked a physical reaction and he found himself breathless and sweating, with his heart racing. Will Tony wriggle away or end up being hooked? And will his Russian paymaster get caught in the net? He is no slouch himself when it comes to charity. Horowitz is a patron of Kidscape, an anti-bullying outfit. And he also does work for Suffolk Home-Start, a charity supporting families with young children. Home-Start will receive all the royalties from Where Seagulls Dare – so those right-wing baddies are at least going to end up doing some good. Tony’s a cold fish… and no missed hake! Tony Stafford, a slippery eco-protester, is hired by a scheming Russian salmon farmer to batter his competitors. The Russian wants to keep his friends close but his anemones closer while Tony, rising to the bait, ditches his current girlfriend, Kim, for an old High School sole mate starring in panto.

In the meantime, though, I hope you’ll enjoy the story…even with the typos and the speling mistakes. You can let me know what you think as I continue – and it’s even possible I may have to ask for help. Endlessly light-hearted and ludicrous, this pair are perfect for KS2 and KS3 readers who like fast-paced stories with mysteries and jokes. There are Alex Rider references for Horowitz fans too. Would love to see this made into a TV series. If you have a position that someone else doesn’t agree with, the response now seems to be so angry, so threatening and so unreasonable.”If you want the truth, I very much hope that this whole virus thing will be over before I’ve written too many chapters and I can stop and bring out the whole book at some time in the future (with all author profits going to support our brilliant NHS.) Irish author Paul Lynch wins Booker prize for his Prophet Song novel 26 November, 2023 Paul Lynch’s Booker Prize winner Prophet Song 'offers readers few surprises' 26 November, 2023 Lauren Graham: 'Why are men still surprised they like Gilmore Girls?' 24 November, 2023 He is certainly prolific. So much so that he’s not entirely certain how many books he’s written. It may be “54 or 55,” he says. He is the author of the bestselling Alex Rider series, often described as James Bond for YA readers. But he has also written, with the blessing of the Fleming estate, three very well-received Bond novels. The most recent of those, With a Mind to Kill, was published in May. But I’m doing it in a very different way. Normally when you read one of my stories, I may have written it half a dozen times. It’s been edited. All the spelling mistakes (and unnecessary violence) have been taken out. It’s been put into a nice cover with illustrations beside the text. It is, in other words, a book. In this episode, there's a tech genius missing in action and the Diamond brothers want to solve the case - the only trouble is that they're being hounded by a gang who aren't much fun to be bothered by. It is investigative fiction at it's most fun - you'll have to suspend your disbelief, but you had to for Scooby Doo too and that was always a winner!

The worry that I have – what I was talking about at Hay – is simply that writers should be leading the agenda, not cowed by it. People who create culture – painting, writing music, books, films – should not be living in fear. If they are, something has gone very wrong.
