About this deal

If you want to face off against another Combat Patrol box you can usethe Combat Patrol rules. These are a little simpler compared to the rules in the Dark Angels Index, with different enhancements and stratagems to make this list balanced against the other boxes. More than almost any other Space Marines Chapter in Warhammer 40K (except perhaps the Ultramarines), there are a multitude of Dark Angels characterswith models on the tabletop. Let’s meet the Dark Angels gang, and get to know some of the friendly faces you might encounter if you start collecting a Dark Angels army. Following the Battle of Bane's Landing, Kranon would suspect that he, and his Chapter were being used by an unknown power. This power would turn out to be the Lord of Change, Tzax’lan-tar, who had been possessing the body of the former Chief Librarian Mannon. Kranon would pursue Mannon deep into the Eye of Terror, to a world called Mymidrax. There he would cut off the daemon's arm before it retreated yet again. [4] These are two nicely detailed character sculpts sure to form a good centre piece for your army. Of the two I think I like the Librarian best. The pose is dramatic and the sculpt sets him apart from previous Librarian minis, while I can't help feeling that the Company Master is rather static in comparison even though this does give him a more commanding appearance.

To me the Ravenwing squadron looks a bit bland, for the same reason the Tactical squad does: no power fists or power weapons for the sergeants. This is a bit of a disappointment as far as these two units are concerned.Following these two heroes into the fray are two units of the most iconic troops of the Dark Angels chapter; a Deathwing Terminator Squad and a Raven Wing Bike Squad. Don't buy any products with an outdated edition listed on them. Older editions may be cheaper, but you may not be allowed to take the pieces to a tournament if you plan on playing with other 40K players. Any unit is capable of punching up through Oath of Moment, especially when supported by the fairly ubiquitous Grenade stratagem to chunk through anything skirmishing on a flank. The question then as always with Marines is how do you kill things without Oath of Moment? At least, so we thought, until spring 2023. In March, Games Workshop announced a new Lion El’Jonson modelthat launched alongside a fresh novel focused on the character. The Lion El’Jonson novel breaks decades of Dark Angels canonas the arisen Primarch reconciles with some of his Fallen sons.

Once again, the set was almost overflowing with miniatures for each army, and featured the first appearance of dedicated models for Chaos Cultists, Chosen, and a reimagining of the Chaos Dreadnought of old in the form of a fearsome Helbrute . But it wasn’t all about the Chaos Space Marines – the Dark Angels force included a squad of Ravenwing and Deathwing in addition to a bespoke Tactical Squad. What’s more, the initial wave of Dark Vengeance sets also included a limited edition miniature of Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus. There are many things to fear about the Dark Angels, but, in some ways, Brother Asmodai is the most fearsome of them all. Acting as their Master Interrogator-Chaplain, he is responsible for rooting out heresy or deviation, no matter what form it takes. Zealous and cold-hearted, Asmodai is a terror on the battlefield – but so much scarier if you meet him in an interrogation chamber. The same applies to smaller (or bigger and fragile, damn blast) units targetted by Desolation Marines, Aggressors or your vehicles of choice. Gladiator Lancers bring their own Re-rolls, as do Inceptors through Twin-Linked. Always be thinking about if you need Oath here or if you can have something smaller punch up a weight class.Oath is hard to use for a multi-phased army: Make no mistake, as much as there are many viable combat options present for Dark Angels, this is still 10th Edition. You are going to run shooting elements of some (and often many) stripe. What that is depends a little bit on what you’re trying to build to beat, but Aggressors, Desolation Marines, and Inceptors (as well as some more exotic fare) all show up regularly in well performing Dark Angels lists. Oath of Moment is a resource, not an army wide buff. It’s on you as the player using it to figure out if you need to save it for your melee, or if you can pump up your shooting phase to full effect. In the earlier stages of the game where you’re not charging this is a lot easier, but knowing the breakpoints where you need it to make a crucial combat happen and where you can skip it will improve your performance significantly. Must Have Dark Angels Units The first person perspective from 10+ pows was a real weird one, but after gettin'into it I totally enjoyed the ride and totally loved the three deliciously brutal ones about Mortis Metalikus the Helbrute relationship to his brother Kranon the Relentless, the Imperial Commissar turned Cultist with his uniform stitched on him, and Arion's tale about his outliving twice his Battle-Brothers exterminated by Orks and Tyranids.

Instead of usual Ultramarines smash puny Orks straight Bolter-Porn, we have here a much more interesting storyline about Dark Angels Astartes set on a quest of vengeance against Traitor Space Marines of the Crimson Slaughter rampaging across multiple Imperial worlds in their relentless search for the Hellfire Stone, and responsable of the slaying of 5th Company Master Zadakiel and many Battle-Brothers. Only 22 models on the table but more like it for all round general gaming versus a wide range of opponents I think. More importantly it is a legal force. n the grim darkness of the far future, mankind fights a desperate battle for survival amongst the stars. Foremost among its protectors are the Space Marines, genetically engineered superhumans, trained to be the ultimate warriors. Bladeguard, Primaris, or Terminator Ancient only: while the bearer is leading a unit, the unit has Feel No Pain 6+ Without Lion El’Jonson, the First Legion fought across the galaxy at the Emperor’s side, becoming grim angels synonymous with death, until the chance discovery of their Primarch on Caliban. As they descended to the planet’s surface, they tested him to prove his worth, then raised him to lead them into battle in the distant regions of the universe. With the Rhino there is a bit more mobility in the list. It would probably be worthwhile to combat squad the Tactical squad and put the Sergeant and meltagun in the transport, the lascannon combat squad remains on the table. However, while I don’t want this style to be a one-off, I don’t want it to become too common either. The novella is the perfect length for this style I think. Gav Thorpe did something similar for his novel Purging of Kadillus, which was also about the Dark Angels, but his character viewpoints fewer and as best as I recall, he didn’t change tenses and perspectives when moving between them. That’s two instances in total I know of. But yeah, this is a unique style and it should keep its uniqueness because while C Z Dunn pulled it off brilliantly, it is easy to see how this can NOT work out, and how some people can be put off by it. If you look for paints that are more similar to the old hexagon Citadel paints I suggest looking into P3 Paints from Privateer Press or Coat'd'Arms, which are made by the same manufacturer as the old Citadel paints. Coat'd'Arms even sells some of the old colours by a different name. That's 20 models on the table in total. And now you can see the reason to add the meltabombs and psychic upgrades as it takes the list to a more 'rounded' points value of 770. A few points to note Dark Angels have a wide variety of tools available to them that live along side the core Index Space Marines, broadening an already diverse range with everything from Characters and Vehicles; to sidegrades of existing units and the wildly different Lion El’Jonson. If you looked at the Marines Index and said “where’s all the stuff?”, Dark Angels are for you.

Deathwing Knights might look underwhelming, but have you heard of Synergy?: Deathwing Knights single-handedly spawned an archetype centered around using them with all of the myriad buffs you can contribute to them from Gladius such as Oath of Moment for full rerolls, and Honour the Chapter for the spicy Lance and +1AP while in Assault Doctrine. Which just so happens to solve the mobility problem that is inherent to a M5 model by granting Advance and Charge. One of the few true melee units in the game that can keep pace with how difficult it can be to get to combat as well as how pillowfisted it can feel when you get there. Want to mow down Lychguard? Charge Custodes, have them fight first then chew them up like Pac-Man right after? Deathwing Knights are your unit. -1 Damage. 4 Wounds. Armour of Contempt. Truly they do it all.
