About this deal

If you're considering Maschine just to control S1, in my opinion the Atom integration with Impact is way more useful than the overall state of Komplete Kontrol these days. I don't know if I'd call the Atom a "proper control surface for S1", though, that's more the Faderport series. I use my Atom for the transport, tap tempo, and loop movement, but all mixing and automation is better suited to the Faderport. The Atom and Atom SQ can't really do any mixing that adapts to the currently-viewed channel.

the firmware should have a 'double hit avoidance' option that tries to sense 'likely double hits' and ignores the subsequent second note. users could choose if they want this 'filter' on or off. Deep integration with Studio One's Pattern Editor allows for evolving step sequences that will bring your productions to life. You'll build compositions faster than ever before using the built-in step sequencer in Studio One and ATOM SQ. It's fast and easy for anyone who knows how to program a drum machine. Experimenting yields particularly rewarding results because ATOM SQ can constrain your performance to the scale of your choice. No more wrong notes! In Ableton Live, those encoders suffer from not having any tie to the readout of the Instrument Mode (as in Studio One 5). Here, you literally have to turn a knob and visually eyeball your screen to see what you’re affecting. I have no doubt (or am extremely hopeful) that PreSonus is working on letting users view Live’s parameters within standalone controller view of User Mode. Selectable pad velocity curves and pressure thresholds customize the pads’ response for maximum expressionFrom here on I’ll focus on the way the Atom SQ works specifically with PreSonus Studio One 5. Ultimately, what’s important for users to understand how Atom SQ works is by defining the features those four buttons titled “Song,”“Inst,”“Editor,” and “User” do. Song Mode I have an older Korg PadKontrol which sounds fine, and an Akai MPD232 which sounds fine, Even if PreSonus knew they were using low quality pad triggers, the fact that they won't even help us out with a (selectable) Double Trigger sensitivity filter (in Setup), means they have a complete disregard for real (paying) end users. I want basic DAW control and am betting on Moss's script to provide this for these devices. I like the feel of the pads on the Maschine Mikro and overall it seems like a very solid device and good value. I like the number of pads on the Launchpad and I also like that I can create custom controllers with the 64 pad grid. And the pads feel pretty great too. Maybe not quite as good as the Mikro. And the Atom seems like a solid device and value though I think the Launchpad pads feel a little better overall.

The unit is powered by USB and connects up to Studio One straight away – the latest version that is. Studio One 4 didn’t recognise it but the supplied 5 Artist did, as did the PreSonus Universal Control software. Performance and verdict One final thing: I do wish to see a future Atom series controller with built-in MIDI output or with USB-to-MIDI capability allowing users to use those built-in chordal/arpeggiator features with external computer-less rigs. Doing so would create the next blazingly inspired device that can introduce the PreSonus workflow inside and outside the software. velocity- and pressure-sensitive, RGB LED pads in a unique, staggered layout; intuitive for keyboard players and step sequencer fansWhile I certainly understand (and frankly, agree with) your frustration about the ATOM line, I'll point out that the Faderport 8 (and probably also the 16) is IMO a really solid piece of hardware and a very useful control surface. Official Live Integration. Ableton Live Lite included (for registered users after October 20, 2019) It seems like 'Good Enough' is sufficient for Presonus management / product managers and that Excellent is something that will 'get to next time' (after our customers pay us yet again). To the left of the touch strip are eight assignable buttons and the unit’s transport controls. The buttons (A-H) can be used for drum bank changes and octave changes (in keyboard mode), and can also be assigned to send MIDI messages.

Intuitive and easy-to-use, ATOM is more than just an expressive MIDI pad controller: It's a production and performance controller as well. Use the velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads to play your virtual instruments live, with incredible expressiveness. Navigate your session without looking at the screen. Automate filter sweeps with four responsive knobs. Wherever inspiration takes you, ATOM lets you focus on the music.Ableton Live users in Editor Mode get something akin to control over Ableton Live’s device mode. Using toggles, you can switch the focus of whatever device you’re using — Instrument or Effect — or turn on/off whatever device you’ve selected to focus on. User Mode

also, I'm not sure there is a way to control 'velocity' (soft / medium / hard) when SQ is used with other DAWs. I think that choice should / could be moved to the Setup Menu (circular button) since other DAWs current don't get the velocity adjustment choice (in the LCD menu). And yes, the overall form factor and functionality of the ATOM SQ is really really good and inutitive and USEFUL. I really love the location and size and responsiveness of the touch strip. The endless encoder knobs feel solid and smooth, and are so easy to set up with Control Link to instantly dial in the Macro knobs from all your synth instruments (or any useful parameter on the synth). The command functions and the display are excellent. It's easy to navigate to useful functions. The colorized pads are really great for use with Impact XT drum kits. If you agree that it’s crucial to have assignable MIDI buttons, please vote for this issue here. Let the octaves go below 0

On the contrary Atom SQ’s appearance seems much complicated than Atom and we can see it is much longer than Atom. It has many buttons and keys. It has a very interesting touch strip which increases its abilities. On the upper right side, it has a simple and small screen that can be used to get information on its performance mode and other parametric functions etc. The main knob from the right that controls the menu, touches or is rubbing something inside or the plastic when turning it around. Can anyone confirm this ? When PreSonus talk about deep integration, they certainly mean it. This goes about as far into Studio One as we’ve seen It may work however in HUI or MCU modes in V4 but with less integration. Although the native SQ driver does not even show up in V4.
