About this deal

Gasp3621 thanks for the links, same warranty I actually don’t mind factory refurbished at all. The ex-demo, assuming that it’s in mint/great condition is a good find, the missus prefers white anyways Right now, I have a 10" Cambridge Audio Aero 9 (used to also have the 10" X500), a 10" XTZ 99W10.16 & a Velodyne SPL-800 Ultra - this one only goes up to 135Hz but works in my situation due to it being a small room & the sub is placed right next to the speakers. This should give you an idea of the types of subs to use/get. I do not use all three - it was just part of my quest to find the best suited subwoofer for the Minx Speakers!!

The heart of this subwoofer is the 170W RMS Class D amplifier with a highly linear response. Embracing a classic DALI trademark, it simply acts as a total low frequency extension of your AV system. The result is a powerful, well balanced bass reproduction and flawless integration with your speakers. In addition, the integrated limiter helps protecting your subwoofer against overloading. Really looking forward to comparing the Sonetto 1 vs the Rubicon 2, and to see how well the Menuet stands up against these bigger speakers. I’m sure the Rega Brio will be fine but as I said I won’t be able to test anything else in that mid size price range with this dealer. Shame because I know there are more powerful mid sized amps like the Cyrus One Cast available and there will always be that nagging doubt wondering if it would be more suitable for the bigger speakers?! gibbsy : so I would at minimum need an Av receiver + stereo amp to drive the R3, right? I think from your other posts you have a Rega Elicit-R, to be honest I am completely clueless about the amps, specifically for the R3s what is main deciding factor for the amps? How much power do the R3s require? Would the room correction form the AV receiver still work properly if it goes through the stereo amp?I have a Dali zensor 5 fronts, vocal centre, zensor 1 surrounds. Marantz SR6010 receiver. Later going to get 2 upfiring atmos speakers. My listening habits are 50% music 50% movie.

Would you guys still recommend Maratantz over Denon if I go with a stereo amp? And because of the amp can I go for a lower range receiver, for example on Denons, pair a 1600H/2600h with the stereo amp rather than 3600H? (assuming both have same features sets on room correction, etc.) Extension and output wise the SVS PC2000 would be best generally, though Arendal Sub1 in small room with some room gain would be great choice. Is your room small or medium sized? You cannot run a 1600 or 2600 with a stereo amp as they do not have the required pre-outs, the 3600 is the first tier model to have a full set of pre-outs. The idea of running a stereo amp along with a receiver is to keep the music side and the film/TV side completely separate from each other but still use the same front speakers, in my case the R300s.

Specifications:

KEFs lend themselves very well as a replacement for a soundbar, as the wide and evenly dispersal of the sound from the point-source UniQ driver allows a larger sweet spot. Many conventional speakers will have quite a narrow sweet spot, so when you sit in the middle, you can move your head a few inches from side to side and the whole balance falls apart. KEF speakers hold it together over a wider area, ideal for more than one listener/viewer. I listened to the Kef LS50 but wasn’t impressed tbh. A bit dull and lifeless in comparison to the Dalis. SUB E-9F fås med finish i hvid højglans, sort ask eller lys valnød. Stoffront kan købes som ekstraudstyr.

So I am thinking af geeting some speakers for my open plan living room/kitchen area where the TV also lives.Speaker-wise, the LS50 Meta (which I've had) are very good, but they're fussy about placement and I didn't find them as 'alive' sounding as the Q series. If there's any young fingers around be aware that grilles are not available for this model or the LSX. Featuring a large 9" woofer, the E9F is a high quality, deep throated subwoofer ideal for teaming with any Dali loudspeakers in a surround sound system. The sturdy cabinet construction, great looking aluminium cone and 170 watt amplifier ensure that bass is precise and effortless at all volumes, while the down firing bass port allows for easy positioning within your room. The SUB E-9 features a 9” woofer, capable of moving lots of air with power and precision. The cone is made from pure aluminum for maximum stiffness and a becoming exterior. Furthermore, the heavy magnet system wields a massive 4-layer, long-stroke voice coil. We have an Indian(?) member here who went from XXLS400 to SB2000 and then finally to PSA S1500. Each upgrade was a good step up. I can`t remember your name, but if you read this reply here. From what i remember some forum has measurements for XXLS400, it starts dropping around 25hz. And lowest notes are said to be "soft" in BK. Again not a fair fight as the prices are quite different and SVS has digital dsp amp (Class D) and BK more basic one (Class AB). Plus SVS has better driver.. But for the price BK is still great, beating many more expensive speaker manufacturers subs. For Harkons case i would like to see bigger jump in performance, so XXLS400 wouldn`t be my choice as guy has more money to spend also.

Don't worry about not having a high pass filter. This isn't home theater where you're focus is on LFE. You're listening to music. I run a similar setup, wired the same way, using a 10" JL Audio subwoofer with Apogee Diva full range ribbon speakers. I’ve read some of the same thread over on AVF, and I’m not going to answer it there as I want to say there’s a lot of BS being banded around by people who have no idea what they’re talking about. All in all, the heavy-duty abilities of this “motor system” ensure that the woofer always follows the signal from the amplifier! I guess from what I have read I perhaps would need both an AV reciever and a stereo amp for the R3 (AV receivers don’t have enough power to drive them?) ,do I have to worry about matching which amp with wich receiver?

List of Best Dali Subwoofer Series

The integrated limiter works in two areas: It compares the input signal amplitude to the potential output signal level, and it compares the available supply voltage from the power supply to the expected output signal. If any of these comparisons show that there will be a problem then the limiter will cut the signal in a soft manner and without affecting peak power. Regarding your Dali Sub - I thought it might be an issue as I remember looking at the 10" or 12" version of your sub to match my Mins but discounted it as it only goes up to 120Hz. Although your AVR may give the correct setting to use, if your sub cannot go that high then you will most definitely have a "Hole" or "Gap" in the sound & I am afraid to tell you you most certainly will. What is the FR of your Dali Sub? You need to ensure it can really have the crossover point needed for the Mins. Also, placing the sub as close to the speakers will help greatly in blending with the sub for a seamless sound. One of my Subs, a Velodyne only has a upper FR of 135Hz but as it is next to the speaker, it blends great. Congrats on the Min's - they really are great for their size & a lifestyle speaker - the BMR drivers offer a wide dispersion unlike nearly all other drivers. The TV is wall mounted so I am thinking to go with floor-standing speakers (bookshelves would need a stand anyways). I dont have the space for a surround system so I am thinking of either a 2.1 system or 3.1 max. Budget is 2K.
