About this deal

Glendronach 16 yo 1994/2011 (56%, OB for K&L Wine Merchants USA, Pedro Ximenez Puncheon, cask #3186, 606 bottles) - 221213 Glendronach 14 yo 1994/2009 (58.5%, OB, for Parker’s Whisky, oloroso puncheon, cask #2311, 596 bottles) - 290817 Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Known as “the sleeping giant”, GlenDronach is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries and only the second to be granted a license to produce whisky after the Excise Act of 1823. James Allardice, a remarkable and extroverted man who loved a drink and a good time, founded the distillery on the Boynsmill Estate in 1826. It’s believed that illicit distillation had actually been taking place at the estate for years before the excise act was passed, but this was undetected thanks to an ingenious alarm system in the form of a colony of rooks nesting in the trees, which would create a hell of a commotion when disturbed… an excellent warning system for the approach of Customs & Excise agents. Glendronach 19 yo 1995/2015 (55.1%, OB, Whisky Nerds, oloroso sherry butt, cask #2380, 628 bottles) - 310817

Glendronach 41 yo 1972/2013 (51.7%, OB, batch 9, oloroso sherry butt, cask #702, 448 bottles) - 241213 Glendronach 19 yo 1995/2015 (55.4%, OB for The Whisky Exchange, Pedro Ximenez puncheon, cask #4028, 697 bottles) - 290817 On the finish, both whiskies received similar scores, with Macallan 12 scoring a slightly higher 5/10. The finish of Macallan 12 Sherry Oak was satisfactory but not particularly memorable or lingering. It did outperform the GlenDronach 12 by 2 points since it lingers more impactfully on the tongue. Unfortunately, the aftertaste can be a bit off-putting after some time.

Glendronach 20 yo 1994/2014 (58.8%, OB, for Whisky Live Tokyo 2014, oloroso sherry butt, cask #44, 595 bottles) - 300817

As with any good cask strength whisky, Batch 10 emits robustness and complexity, coming in at a powerful yet mid-level (for cask strength) brawn at 117 proof. Master Blender Rachel Barrie created The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 10 from Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Spain and bottled the whisky at the natural cask strength – customary according to traditional methods from before the turn of the 20 th Century. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. When comparing GlenDronach 12 vs. Macallan 12 Sherry Oak, their distinct flavour profiles will more than likely be your main deciding factor. They can complement different uses and circumstances depending on your preference for longevity and complexity. Glendronach 20 yo 1993/2013 (52.9%, OB, batch 8, oloroso sherry butt, cask #3, 633 bottles) - 190813This limited-edition release of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was matured in the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks, direct from Andalucía in Spain. The casks were individually selected by Dr. Rachel Barrie, the first female Master Blender in Scotland’s history, then combined to create the perfect marriage of casks at 58.6% ABV natural cask strength, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Glendronach 24 yo 1992/2016 (57.6%, OB, for Tiger's Finest Selection Taiwan, oloroso sherry butt, cask #95, 589 bottles) - 230720
