About this deal

This is not only about the quality but also about design. The MKE600 can be more convenient than both AT897 and Rode NTG2, it performs great even in close-up or open spaces without relying on post EQ tweaks to make up for its weaknesses with one mic performance that might not sound as good when needed most during loud live shows like concerts where distortion often happens due of how many people are yelling/singing at once while instruments play loudly behind them all together which sounds terrible if something goes wrong . It seems Sennheiser took best elements from each microphone they tested before creating this gem. I was looking for a microphone with which to write movies and do re-recordings. In fact, initially I wanted to take a Rode microphone, but my love leaned more towards the Sennheiser company, and therefore I decided to take this one. Due to the limited budget, it was necessary to choose the perfect option, and I found it!

In this week’s episode, we have a look at and a listen to the Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun microphone. This medium sized shotgun mic — in Sennheiser’s words, a ‘microphone for video journalists’ — is highly directional and can be used both as a traditional shotgun mic or as a camera-top vlog microphone. The included XLR to 3.5 mm TRS cable also allows you to record from this mic directly into cameras with a 3.5mm mic input. In this video we walk through the MKE 600’s feature set and test it out in multiple environments and applications. Let’s take a closer look! While the MKE 600 and 200 cater to different needs and it would be unfair to directly compare them to one another, it serves as a reference to the Sennheiser MKE 600’s ability to handle more complex environments with less dramatic falloff the further away you are from the mic. All the little annoyances that we've had with NTG-2 and AT897 are simply not there in MKE 600. One reason why I love this product so much is because you can have it sit right on top of your preamp, router table or even next to where ever work happens most frequently without worrying about getting buzzes from other electronics.

Why can't I get the adjustable volume Headset outlet to work? I have tried setting the ATEM to line and mic with a very loud hum and no usable sound. All they are is usually just a high quality 1:1 transformer properly wired. Often they can be used in both directions. Personally I like the Radial StageBug SB-6 which can do this but there are many different brands that have similar devices."

MKE 600: Your Ticket to Pro Production Sound

The MKE 600 shotgun mic is a versatile and high-quality option for on the go recording. It has an impressive range of features that make it ideal to use with journalists or videographers, such as its excellent directivity - which eliminates noise coming from all angles except frontward ones to help you hear what's going on. This makes capturing audio clear even if there are distractions like other people talking next to them plus battery power means no need worry about running out during deadline moments. The MKE600 sounds like a 416 at 18" and a 66 at 36". The proximity effect is very strong and at different distances make it sound like two completely different mics. I would avoid it. The best audio would probably be a balanced line level output from the mixer (although of course the ATEM doesn't have a balanced input, so you'd need to convert it). The best microphone in the world on the camera is not going to be as good as a microphone that's right in front of whoever is speaking.

To be honest, I'm willing to work on this mic, the only reason I'd change it to a 416 is because of the low noise and better directivity. The Aphex interface should work if your blucoil preamp output is balanced -4 dBV. Since it is USB powered, it probably doesn't have enough headroom to get good results from a vocal music performance. The mic is a bit more on the neutral side and will not give you that harsh, deep voice everyone craves. It's great for recording soft sounds like speech but if your goal were something really high pitched then this wouldn't be best suited to capture it because of its 15 dB-A weighted rating which makes low volume noises very difficult indeed.

The 416 is THE short shotgun that all others have been and will be compared to, my untrained ear can't tell the difference between this mic and the NTG 3. Hey Art, the shotgun I currently use a Rode NTG-3. As Howard has described, this is is Rode's answer to the venerable 416. It's not as good, but pretty close at roughly half the price. Sennheiser shotguns are the industry standard for sound engineers and crews in film. The company has an undeniable reputation as a trustworthy producer of microphones, with their MKH 416 serving as one such example that proves quality never goes unnoticed or unappreciated at any level of production. Sure, there are situations where a shotgun won't capture what you need at an interior location, but there are many situations where it's the ONLY mic that will capture what you need. It really comes down to the type of situation and/or location. What is/are the sound source/s? What is the ambient noise? etc etc

If you're looking to buy yourself some professional tools - whether we're talking about recording equipment like headphones and monitors; interface boxes which connect various devices together so they can share data like FTP. Digital conversion boards used during post-production processes such as colour grading"- then there's no doubt about who makes your best option: SENNHEISER. Sometimes it happens that there may not be enough dynamic range at a particular volume, but this can always be controlled and corrected. The MKE 600 has a professional swag with a few important features for modern-day creators and videographers, while its versatility to switch between shooting environments and the way it handles itself is very attractive. Noise is kept to a minimum which offers wiggle room for post-processing.
