The avi files are huge (as much as 850MB on the card for each 30 minute file-- you get about 75 minutes of files on a 2GB card) so the supplied card is somewhat limiting. It can be adjusted for the activity you’re doing, which means the footage you get is clear, and the wide-angle lens captures more of your ride, too. Plus TimeWarp 2.0 produces great time-lapse videos. Works well in the night. I know people have reviewed this camera saying that it's poor in the night. It's far from a great picture. But compared to other camera in this price range it still does a good job, even if the picture has softer edges etc, that's to be expected as the exposure goes up. I can still get license plates from the footage at night which is more than can be said for the expensive Drift HD camera! (which is poor at night despite night mode and with the wide lens makes plates hard to read unless really close up).
As you’re looking through the features of each camera, there are a few that you can’t really go without… Size and weight The first thing to consider is the size and weight of the camera. Mounting a big, heavy camera on your riding hat is going to be uncomfortable when used over a period of time and is likely to affect your balance, too. Go for a camera that’s lightweight and compact, so you’re less likely to notice it on your riding hat. Bear in mind also the effect its weight might have in the event of you falling off. Durability Spending time around the yard and your horse means your gear will take a bit of a beating. Selecting a hat camera that’s tough and will stand up to being exposed to the elements, horses, and dirt is a big consideration. Waterproof I read the pdf version of the documentation (supplied on the CD) because I do not like reading what must be 4 point type of the included printed manual. The instruction manual indicates that 45 minutes of recording requires 1 Gb of storage, but I found that it requires closer to 1 Gb for every 30 minutes. I highly recommend getting a 8 Gb Micro SD Card (max size allowed). The battery will last up to 3 hours which means that you will need up to 6 Gb of storage to use it that long recording continuously. The accessories seemed almost generous: clip, pouch, strap, corded USB, un-corded USB, CD, printed manual, and really useful software-- it automatically begins upload when connected (if you have the power switch to "on" and the VOX to "off").
