About this deal

I"d been playing acoustic guitar through a small acoustic combo amp, mostly doing solo "special music gigs." I"m generally not playing longer gigs, just a few songs for special events. I"d been happy for the most part with my small amp. Considering everything, it"s quite capable, especially when playing solo to a captive audience. I"ve had more than one occasion however when I turned down requests to play in a larger church or with a small ensemble. In those situations, the amp is less than adequate. I could be heard throughout the church when playing for a quiet crowd, but it just wouldn"t fill the room sufficiently. I should also make clear that I am not a fan of "DI-ing out." I"ve played in churches in particular for years. I"ve been burned on too many occasions to be comfortable with that. Like most PA speakers, this speaker occupies M8 rigging points and a 50-degree rear corner angle. This allows the speaker to double as a floor monitor. The speaker also allows freedom for mixing facilities. For example, in case of a simple job, the speaker has to be used in a stand-alone mode. Giving you the flexibility of using it for floor monitoring, front of house, or rigged applications, the DBR10- 10" 2-Way Powered Loudspeaker from Yamaha is capable of up to 700W of dynamic output via its Class D amplifier. The loudspeaker features a 10" woofer and a 1" high-frequency driver and provides a maximum output of 129 dB. An on-board 2-channel mixers allows you to connect microphone or line level sources via 1/4", XLR, and RCA connectors. Thanks to its ergonomic handle and lightweight design the DBR10 is portable and can be easily transported. The high power output woofers deliver well-defined, powerful bass with minimal distortion, while the 1.4" precision compression driver* produces accurate mid-range and high frequencies. *DBR10 features a 1" compression driver. A Rugged, Highly Portable Cabinet

The speaker provides a pleasant warmth to the sound even when used as a PA. The speaker projects loud, clear sounds. However, the voice sounds slightly distorted if I stand behind the speaker. This is indicative of resonance, which is better corrected by wooden enclosures. The horn coverage angle is specified as 90 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical. The main body of the cabinet is moulded and includes a sensibly placed top handle, as well as the expected 35mm pole mount in the base. Yamaha tell us that the DBR series of speakers, of which the DBR10 is the smallest, benefits from the transducer, amplifier and DSP technologies developed for Yamaha’s more upmarket DSR and DXR ranges. If you need something larger than this one, then there are 12–inch and 15–inch models in the range. The DBR10 has a frequency response of 55Hz to 20kHz. The D-Contour switch on the rear panel instantly optimises the DBR10 for positioning between a floor monitor and ear-level front of house. By tailoring the high frequency throw and angle, you can retain the detail and clarity, regardless of positioning.

Tech Specs

It is because Yamaha is expensive in general. However, using a reliable brand such as Yamaha when purchasing a speaker is better . The company has also managed to keep most of the features in this low-price series. Yamaha DBR10 Sound Quality: You might get many options when purchasing a speaker at the same price as a DBR10. Among those options, there is a possibility that you get more features as compared to a DBR10. In terms of the fan based cooling, and the user manual's warning to beware of using it in environments having a lot of air-born dust and such, I just gaffers-taped a piece of air conditioner filter over the input grate. Issue solved. I have a long haired dog, which makes for a hostile environment exactly like the one they warn against.

If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered The angled case of the speaker makes it possible to be placed horizontally when used as a stage monitor. The small size, lightweight, and handle placement make carrying around this speaker in between gigs easier. The portability of the speaker leads to more accessible transportation. Yamaha DBR10 Speaker Features: The bass driver of the speaker is custom-owned by Yamaha, which they use in all their speakers. Other than that, it consisted of a two-inch voice coil. The speaker also had a cone that measured almost 10 inches.

Yamaha DBR10 10'' Active PA Speaker Pair with Speaker Stands Overview

Sound quality is excellent. The feature of having a 3 position sound contour setting allows alternatives for boosting the highs and lows to fit the application somewhat, but it is not as flexible as having knobs for highs and lows that can each be adjusted anywhere in a range. I use the contour in the Off position - i.e. flat with no boosting on the speaker - and do my sound shaping on the input signal from a mixer. Sounds great, and I get exactly what I want. I/O connectors INPUT1: Combo x1, INPUT2: Combo x 1 + RCA pin x 2 (Unbalanced), OUTPUT: XLR3-32 x 1 (CH1 Parallel Through or CH1+CH2 Mix)

The new DBR series makes the technology from Yamaha’s established DXR speakers available at an even more wallet–friendly price. I bought the DBR15. It's a very powerful and surprisingly light unit considering. I am comparing this to lugging around a JBL EON15 G2, which has fewer handles and weighs more. With this one, I grab both handles, hug it to my chest and walk as normal. Thank you! As mains, the church I was using them at had only one complaint—they looked too small. I had to grill them to get them to admit they sounded full and big and they finally admitted it. This was in a 200 seat ballroom and they had plenty of headroom for the typical guitar/keyboard duo. Keys sounded huge through them too. I was running four—two on the floor in stereo and two as mains with an Allen & Heath QU-SB digital board and an iPad.Custom Designed Transducer - The high power output woofers deliver well-defined, powerful bass with minimal distortion, while the 1.4" precision compression driver* produces accurate mid-range and high frequencies. A Rugged, Highly Portable Cabinet - DBR Series speakers feature a compact, lightweight, and durable plastic cabinet which offers the highest level of portability of all Yamaha powered speakers. The sleek steel grille bolsters cabinet durability and protects the internal components while a newly designed ergonomic handles provide effortless transportation and system setup.
