While chunky and weighty, it is a reasonably small and portable size with padded feet for stabilization. However, it is my opinion that to exclusively pump you need a powerful motor with the suction power of over 300mmHg. I’m towards the end of my pumping journey with my second kid, and this is seriously my favorite pump (I’ve tried at least 6 different ones including the more mainstream) and I wish more people knew about Ardo pumps! The automatic Power Pumping of the Alyssa is a predefined one-hour interval pumping consisting of three pumping phases and two pause phases. While the duration of the pumping and pausing phases is predefined, you can adjust the vacuum and cycle settings to your personal needs at any time. Also, on a side note, the clear aesthetic makes it so satisfying to watch your milk flow into the bottles. I learned so much more about my let-downs (plural!) during pumping than I knew before. I would highly recommend this pump.
It’s a personal NICU hospital grade pump that’s actually AFFORDABLE. This is going to be a huge benefit to pumping moms with premature & NICU babies to establish their milk supply and have their pump available at all times. However, the fact is I don’t believe it is sufficient for exclusive pumping. If you are someone who knows you respond better to less powerful pumps like the Medela Freestyle Flex pump, and have exclusively pumped with pumps with a similar motor life/power, then it could work well for you.Does it work with the MyArdo App? yes, you can control the automatic Power Pumping feature via the MyArdo app! The closed-system pump provides maximum protection, ensuring a barrier against pathogens for your breastmilk. When you press the button with the droplets on it (3 on top, 2 underneath) it changes to expression mode, signaled by 2 droplets. Adjust settings
it’s fairly quiet. I mean, it’s not silent, but compared with some other pumps it’s much quieter. You can hear it in the video Unfortunately, it was not the pump for me, but it could be for someone else. I definitely think it could be a great pump to help direct feeders increase supply with the ease of the power pumping setting and for more occasional or less frequent use. The touchpad on the front of the Alyssa is well lit and clear. It is very user friendly in this way, as changes to the cycle and vacuum are plain to see. The only negative I have is the power button. I without a doubt accidentally turn the pump on every time I move it. I need to train myself to hold the pump differently. The buttons are a touch and hold which took a second to figure out but I love knowing that it won’t turn on accidentally in my bag.
The design is always so simple and sleek, which i love. and it’s actually the perfect size that I can take it just about anywhere, especially with a rechargeable battery! Power pumping is a method recommended by health care experts to increase the amount of milk and to stabilize fluctuating amounts of milk.
It comes with 26/22mm flanges and membrane caps (I have 15mm Maymom inserts in to size my flanges down), two bottles, a charger, bottle stands, 4 sets of valves, pump unit, tubes.
It has an app that you can totally control the pump with—power, vacuum, speed, & power pumping feature. Or you can control straight from the touchpad if you like. I want to note that the touchpad is touch sensitive, not pressure sensitive and is designed for a 2 second time delay to power on so that the unit isn’t accidentally turned on and off. (I had to reach out to Ardo’s amazing customer service because I thought my pump was malfunctioning—turns out the pump is just smarter than me! 😹) Alyssa has an app that connects to and controls the breast pump from your phone via Bluetooth called MyArdo. Through the app, you can turn on the pump, use the Memory Plus setting, change the mode, cycle and vacuum settings. First off, this pump is a complete game changer! It’s innovative technology and features are what makes it stand out. What’s even more exciting and amazing is how this pump has a power pumping feature like no other! If you are new or seasoned in your breastfeeding journey, Ardo’s Alyssa has everything you need, especially if you find yourself in a cluster feeding period. As Mommy of five previous and new exclusively breastfed munchkins, I have finally found a pump that doesn’t leave me feeling like ran a marathon! It’s so easy to assemble, and even includes how to videos that are easy to access on how to assemble your pump! This to a degree is true. Stronger suction does not equal more milk. Some people respond better to softer suction or massage modes than any expression mode.
The charge lasts for perhaps 3 to 4 pump sessions for me. My pump sessions are around 30 minutes. The motor/suction power issuethere’s a slight learning curve if you’ve never used an Ardo pump, but the manual and tips are super helpful! Just remember that you need to press and hold over the buttons to turn them on/off I normally would give a breast pump a solid month before reviewing, due to the typical adjustment period, but Alyssa has blown my expectations out of the water, within the week and a half that I have owned it. I don’t want this amazing pump to sit without the review that it deserves another day! The layout of the touchpad is mirrored quite closely in the MyArdo App. You can alter all these aspects in the MyArdo app and on the pump. Battery life
