About this deal

I like how this movie was also a mystery, we are able to dig deep into the time he was killed and what his life was like then. Throughout, the only thing I was questioning myself like why did his killer kill him? I could say it was pretty horrible for the poor guy to not know this for all these years! You would be thinking in the ghost world, what are the answers? I wish we could see people who have left us and that we would be able to help them figure out their past!

These are short stories which take place in the world of Moore's Essex Witches novels - supernatural thrillers focussed on Rosie Strange and her family museum in the village of Adder's Fork, Essex. The Strange family and its history entwine with that of the Museum which is itself a slightly uncanny place. The book opens with Septimus and the Shaman which features elderly curator Septimus Strange telling younger Sam about his time in Iceland during the war when he was told to interrogate a local Medium upon a volcano who had predicted recent events before they occurred and his unusual encounter with the man and some predictions that he had made about his life. Calling the Old Man Out: Dewey does this to his uncle, or rather the past version of him, and tells him off for ignoring his sister and being selfish when all Della wanted was to spend Christmas with him.

The Wendigo's apparent tendency to say its own name likely refers to the Marvel Comics version. His design is also basically a Funny Animal variant of the Marvel version: a large, muscular humanoid covered in white fur, with claws, sharp teeth, goat horns and a long tail. The third level of commemorations of these 12 days are for those who in later centuries lived and honored Christ in marvelous ways and became saints of the church, such as St Melanie of Rome from the 5th century (December 31), St Basil the Great from the 4thcentury era (January 1), and St Sylvester, Bishop of Rome also from the 4th century(Jan 2). Death Becomes Her is about Police Officer Stacey Winters who can see death, she can see the people he visits and after trial and error realises that there is nothing she can do to stop him. It reminded me of something I read a long time ago about you can’t cheat death and that if you interfere in the process it will always find another way. I'm grateful to the publisher for a free copy of The Twelve Strange Days of Christmas to consider for review. Disproportionate Retribution: Young Della refuses to cut Young Donald and Dewey out of the net even while the Wendigo is almost upon them, all because Donald called her "Dumbella". Downplayed in that the actual reason for this was that she wanted to hear an apology for her brother hiding himself away rather than being with his sister on Christmas.

The stories fit with the wider series in a number of ways, variously taking place in Adder's Fork, featuring minor characters from the books or members's of Rosie's family (including Septimus himself), narrated to familiar figures or, in a couple of cases, I think anticipating future books. A couple are not, perhaps, strictly ghost stories but they slot in very nicely with the general theme which is of course death is a common - death anticipated, death mourned, death overcome - death awaited. Six Geese A-Laying- In Genesis, the creation story is told in which God takes six days to create the world; this symbol recognizes those words. Wendigo: Dewey, Donald and Della encounter one who is after Scrooge. They describe it as "poor souls turned into monsters by obsession and desperation", and it is portrayed resembling a muscular goat-man with Glowing Eyes of Doom, sharp teeth, clawed hands and three-toed theropod-like feet. It turns out to be the Ghost of Christmas Past, driven mad after Scrooge left him behind in the past. He gets better once Scrooge breaks through the creature's shell and reconciles with the spirit. In the Orthodox Church January 6is officially called the Baptism of our Lord – Theophany (sometimes called simply Epiphany). Theophany means “God’s appearance” and Epiphany simply “appearance”. On the day of Jesus’ baptism, the Holy Trinity was made manifest with the appearance of the doveand the voice that was heard from the sky (Matt 3:13 – 17).

At the age of 30 he was elected a bishop and served for 20 yrs/died in 335 A.D. He is the one attributed for bringing St. Helen to the Christian faith and ultimately King Constantine himself. He also is credited with “reforming” the Saturday fast (that it would not be a strict fast day) making only Holy Saturday a strict Saturday of fasting.
