About this deal

Jays are also excellent mimics, with tawny owls and buzzards among their favourite impersonations. Exactly why they do this is not known, although it’s likely that the larger their repertoire of sounds and tweets, the more attractive they are to potential mates. Similar birds to jays Waxwing After 59 years, the barley field, called “the old wilderness”, resembled a mature woodland, with 390 trees per hectare of which 52% were oaks. In both cases, jays were the likeliest source of the oak trees, typically carrying acorns to cache for the winter much further than wood mice and grey squirrels. About six inches below the right earbud sits a sturdy 3-button iOS control microphone wrapped in solid plastic with a metal casing. Following the two pronged cables further down to their convergence point reveals a small piece of glossy plastic which can be drawn up to bring the two sides together.

This role in supporting new oak growth has also been highlighted in the results of a long-term study into natural regeneration. The research first started 60 years ago and was carried out on two agricultural fields close to Monks Wood National Nature Reserve in Cambridgeshire, an ancient woodland first recorded in 1279. The older field was full of barley until 1961, the other was grassland and abandoned in 1996. “We decided to just let it go and watch what happens,” explains ecologist Dr Richard Broughton from the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, which has taken on the research. “It was the start of passive rewilding.” By burying thousands of acorns each year, the jay is playing a crucial role in passive rewilding/ Credit: Getty ImagesA much smaller forest dweller but with similar pinky-brown plumage. The Eurasian Jay has an extensive distribution in the Northern Hemisphere, from Ireland in the west to Japan in the east. They reach their southern limit in Southeast Asia and North Africa. There are other benefits to passive rewilding, Richard adds. The trees are adapted to the local soil and climate, while imported trees can harbour diseases and have often been grown in environmentally damaging peat. Planted naturally, trees also have stronger root systems, making them far more resistant to drought, while the jays’ work can save on labour and transport costs. It all makes for a pretty compelling case. Jay are being hailed as the new champion of reforestation in the UK/Credit: Getty Images - Getty I like the concept of JAYS.se, their design and their approach to the business. It is clear the T1 and T2 are not audiophile level earphones but the T3 and T4 are very nice. I wouldn’t say they are the best on the (huge) market but I have been using them each day so far, that says enough. Each T-Jays earphone is very well balanced and layered which I like a lot. I’m pretty sure the T1 and T2 are marketed to an audience who just wants something better as the standard earphones. I would surely recommend the T-Jays Three which is a good overall iem with a slight focus on the bass that is very nice to listen to.Like the a-Jays, the t-Jays have a good array of extras in the box. In addition to the aforementioned silicone tops, Jays also includes a stereo splitter, an aeroplane adaptor and a hard carrying case. The only thing missing that other manufacturers tend to offer is an earwax-removal tool, but we always just lose them so Jays has just saved us the effort there.
