About this deal

The writing really put me off. The informal language didn't bother me so much, but what did was the way Maya and Noah assessed everything with an air of superiority and went through life with a bad attitude. And the sheer number of outfit changes in this book. Please, we didn't need descriptions of every single scandalous dress and too-short skirt that she wore. I could picture that enough from Noah's in-depth descriptions, thank you very much. I mean, could she be wearing any more clothes? ainst the headrest while our cars spin out of control. The hit jerks me, my body aching in ways I didn’t think possible. Because we shouldn’t be having this conversation. You’re my boss,” she whispers the words as if someone can hear us. ”

I know books aren’t meant to be realistic but cmon . Your trying to tell me out of all the people there Zara was the ONLY good creator ? Please make it make sense . There was so much I hated about this book but for some reason, I don't remember any of it right now. So about Maya. Maya is twenty-three, Spanish (VERY emphasised in the story only when convenient, but also in such a stereotypical fashion that my Spanish friend actually got insulted by it) and Santi's younger sister. This is one of the first things that we know about her: Anyways, Maya wasn’t any better. I can’t really put on an exact thing that I didn’t like about her, but she was just annoying to me. There was not one single aspect of it that I liked. Not the writing, the characters, the setting, the theme, the profanity, the relationship, the races, the eyebrow in between two scenes, the bUrN-

Throttled is Lauren Asher's debut novel, and I have to say, I'm pretty damn impressed! I've read a lot of debut novels, and this one is definitely a standout. The author's writing is fantastic, and her knowledge of F1 racing makes the story even more interesting and immersive. I flew through the book with ease, and when it ended, I had a big smile on my face. Since we have established a bit of the setting and the characters, let me list a bit of the stuff that I absolutely couldn't stand. It is a rare activity, a perfect act of balance and fear on the one hand and love. Throttled by Lauren Asher is about doubts, thrills, and drama, combining human relationships and experiences between longtime friends. The characters are portrayed with empathy and recovery, and the hopeful ending is real. Always having an imaginative streak, Lauren Asher would focus on her love of reading and writing from a very early age. This passion of hers would develop over time, allowing her to essentially become the full-time novelist she’d always wanted to become. Refining and honing her craft throughout the intervening years, she’d come to establish her own unique voice with its distinct style and tone. There’s nothing in the world I’ll find more beautiful than her. Not the sun. Not the moon. Not even the entire galaxy compares to the light she radiates wherever she goes.”

The author probably wrote this with the idea that this was quirky, and that she is a strong female that overcomes adversity. But all this did was infuriate me because how badly can you screw up your university choices? And for what reasons? It just makes me feel that she has no direction, no aim for life, and that she has to pay the price later. Yes, I am those people that consider this as a failure instead of a restart. i fluctuated so much with the characters. one minute i loved Zahra and was riding the Rowan-hate train... then after one small conversation or interaction my feelings would do a reverse uno and it was Rowan i was rooting for while Zahra was the one grating on my last nerve. The Prince of the United States of America Despite his arrogance, Noah Slade won my heart. He’s the good-looking, humorous, and gifted racer who has erected a steel barrier around his heart. Noah Slade is the prince of the F1 race. He has to face his most significant threat right now, but it is in his heart that his goal is to win the championship. It’s not easy being the son of an F1 great, and for Noah, it meant pressure and expectations rather than love and support. Her writing style is simple and effective which allows you to come to know the characters. All the race details, pre-race rituals, galas, and everything are very clear in the book. The description of the cities on the F1 circuit is very vivid. You’re right there with the characters, feeling everything they do.Meanwhile Maya? I am fond of her sweet character but she mostly appeared as a doormat throughout the novel. There are a few qualifying moments, but they are few and far between. We never learn that much about Maya and her personality outside of F1 and the vlog and the bar is in hell with Asher's female character. There was no redemption made from Noah to prove that he is capable of being in a serious relationship, especially after the "date"— he didn’t demonstrate any growth to her and she simply caved in. That itself is simply a disgrace (you can do better Maya) 🥴.
