About this deal

To ensure that all applicable parts of your garden are drained, the most effective method of laying land drainsis to lay them in a herring bone pattern (see diagram). The pipes should be laid so that no point in the garden is any more than 2m away from a pipe. The maximum distance between pipes is therefore, 4m. The centre line, or spine, of the drain takes the water to the soakaway and all of the other lines, or ribs, feed into the spine. To set this formation out it is as well to buy a bag of sand and, after measuring the distances involved, sprinkle sand down each line of pipe you want to insert. The garden is lower than neighbouring gardens or at the bottom of a hill. Water flows downwards and Elevating the whole garden via raised beds or with an additional layer of gravel and topsoil. This MAY work but, since the water won’t be going anywhere, you yet again risk shifting the problem to another area as with the topsoil method above.

Install a catch basin with a grate in the area where the water naturally pools. This forms the main pipe entrance, and the basin stops debris from entering the pipe. Planting trees or shrubs in a waterlogged garden spot. Not only will the plants fail to drain the water, but they will also perish since their roots will need to breathe. Your only option here is to plant bog plants, but they won’t be able to solve your problem completely, either. Instead, you will essentially create a different type of garden. The turf, if any, should be removed carefully and stored for replacement. Good soil should be saved to be placed on the top of the soakaway to re-turf. The waste soil can be used to make a built flower bed somewhere else in the garden.

Fill the top of the trench with soil or add decorative stone at the top to make it level with the yard. you have placed the pipe in the trench, add more pea gravel until it is completely covered. The pea gravel around the Perforated land drainage pipe coils collect surface water through small holes cut in the dwells of the coil. Their flexible pipe coil structure has a 90 degree bend radius over 1m. In agriculture, this assists drainage in fields and improves soil quality. In construction, it alleviates flooding and relieves static load on underground structures and retaining walls. It’s very likely that you will recognise a soggy garden when you see one. Some of the symptoms include multiple puddles caused by rain that have trouble draining, squelching sounds upon stepping on the soil, reed or similar plants growing in the lawn, and the presence of moss. 10 factors that can lead to poor drainage

Sloped lots rely on gravity to move the drainage to an exit point or storm drain. Otherwise, a sump pump is required to pump the water away from the foundation. Most drainage projects are not cheap. Before looking into any garden drainage ideas, we highly encourage you to confirm that your green space indeed has trouble draining water.

A word of caution on this method, there are a number of things which can render this drainage solution ineffective. To make sure it functions properly and drains the area you will need to make sure the soakaway area can hold enough water and the french drains direct the water downhill. Used to drain water away from a wet, soggy or waterlogged part of your garden to a soakaway or drain. As with all home improvement projects, there are a number of factors that can affect the total price you pay for installing a drainage system in your garden. While there are myriad of reasons why your garden isn’t draining water properly, here are 10 factors that most likely contributed to your garden’s swamp-like appearance:

Soggy yard? Here are your options.

Perforated land drain is also useful as field drainage, in sport fields, and as lawn & garden drainage in smaller diameters, and can also feature in french drains to improve drainage.

Space out the side drains at either 3 metre intervals (for clay soil) or at 7.6 metre intervals (for loamy soil); One of the easiest and cheapest garden drainage solutions is to plant vegetation that is compatible with your soil type. For instance, some hydrangea species are great for regulating wet soils, while clay soil gardens will benefit from species like Geranium and Fuchsia. Get yourself a rain barrel

How much does a garden drainage system cost?

Of course, you don’t have to turn your drainage project into a creek bed. A simple swale is an effective and subtle way to control surface water. Obviously, it’s easier to create a swale before you seed or sod your yard, but if necessary, you can cut out the grass with a sod cutter and replace it when you’re done regrading.
