About this deal

All the selections on our list produce little to no dust. Traditional cat litter produces a cloud of dust when pouring which can aggravate respiratory issues and allergies. As you now know, paper cat litter can be an excellent choice for cat parents. Paper litter can help keep both your cat and the planet healthy. We appreciate that paper litter can be used for cats in a variety of situations, whether they have long or short hair, or they have sensitive paws or allergies. Depending on the type of paper litter you buy, it can also be disposed of in several different ways, including via composting. Wood pellet cat litter - more sustainable than most types, made up of compressed and dehydrated wood or sawdust, often made up of byproducts from wood production used to make something else, such as furniture. Plant fibre cat litter - arguably the most sustainable option, made from a wide variety of natural waste products, from corn or wheat fibres to peanut shells. All are dried out, combined and compressed into granules or pellets.

Made in Michigan, this litter has added baking soda to control odors. However, our testers did note that not all cats are willing to use this litter. I don’t know for sure about the eco-friendliness of the wood-based versus clay ones (does anyone else?) but I suspect (read: hope) that the former is a waste byproduct of the wood industry. It is also less likely to cause clumping issues for the cats. We’ve also tried recycled paper-based litters – they worked alright, just left the room smelling of damp paper – and if poo-free, could be composted like the wood ones.Environmentally friendly: If you’re concerned about the environment, this is definitely the litter for you. Paper litter is usually made from recycled materials. It is also biodegradable, so it breaks down and won’t contribute to landfill waste.

How do I scoop paper litter? Because it typically doesn’t clump, plus comes with large pieces, you’ll likely end up having some difficulty the first couple of times you scoop out the litter box. The biggest help will be getting a different scooper with larger holes. Other than that, you should first collect any feces in the box while letting any still fresh pellets go through or roll off of the scooper. Then dig around the bottom of the box to find any pellets that have collected urine. Finally, add new pellets if needed. Paper cat litter offers several benefits for keeping your beloved kitty healthy. Paper cat litter may not be as easy to maintain as general clumping litters, but it could potentially much better for your cat’s overall wellbeing. Runner-Up Best Paper Cat Litter: Yesterday’s News paper cat litter is different from Okocat paper litter in that it’s made from recycled paper rather than reclaimed lumber. We like that this paper litter has a softer texture, making it a good choice for kittens, seniors, and post-surgical cats. This eco-friendly litter is light on the wallet but offers superior absorbency and odor control. My wife runs a boarding cattery & we get loads of wood litter waste. I have converted our 4 bed house to operate totally on wood. I ripped out the central heating & we have a solid fuel rayburn in the kitchen, for cooking, heat & hot water. A large wood burning villager stove with outside chimney is in the lounge & burns wood also. No rads at all. How often do I need to change paper cat litter? – Paper cat litter should be scooped at least once a day and changed completely about once a week. Paper litter needs to be changed more frequently than traditional litters, unless it is a clumping formula. If you’re using clumping paper litter, you can change it once every two weeks or so. The formula is low-dust with a very minimal amount emitted when pouring from the cardboard box, which is conveniently equipped with a handle and spout. It’s completely free of artificial dyes, fragrances, synthetic chemicals, and genetically modified organisms.

Clumping: Clumping paper litters are rare, so you’ll have a harder time finding one, but it will make scooping easier. We filled sealed containers with as much cat litter as we could and weighed them to see how much you'd need to use to fill up the same size space. The more you need to use, the more frequently you'll need to buy more. Made from >99% recycled paper (no virgin wood fibre) which is a renewable resource otherwise destined for landfill. Odor control: Most paper cat litters are formulated without any sort of fragrance or deodorant. However, some have additional baking soda for superior odor control. If you’ve never tried an alternative litter, this is a great place to start. It’s carried affordably in a lot of major stores as well as health-conscious pet stores.Any questions will be answered including installation costs etc + windmill/solar possibilityquestions.
