Fist impressions of River are he is moody, a bit of a grouch and doesn't like people, this is Rivers defence mechanism, following the death of his step-father the family was shunned, rejected by town people.

Well, this wasn't my first book by this author, but i have to admit that i had a very long time to read something from her and this story was the right choice!!!River was really amazing. Although he was a grouch most of the time (and I mean it because he was mean to everyone for most of the book, hahaha), he had a big heart of pure gold behind that facade. It was a great listen, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I know it will be one I will listen to again. This book is beautifully written, with so much emotion. The inevitable drama brings an exciting ending, and the epilogue finishes off the story beautifully. I finished this book with a huge smile on my face, and I loved it.

Líbilo se mi, jak se snažila myslet pozitivně a hleděla do budoucnosti. Do lepší budoucnosti, kde svému dítěti a sobě zařídí lepší život. Musím se přiznat, že na jejím místě bych se furt otáčela a bále se, že mě manžel najde. I když chápu Spojené státy jsou obrovské není to Česko, ale i tak. Líbilo se mi, jak se s Riverem postupně začali kamarádit a jak to pomalu přerůstalo v něco více. Jejich slovní přestřelky a hašteření si užijete. Navíc jsou to sousedi, to se mi v knihách vždy líbí :-).i'm going to be honest with you guys. . . i don't - well. . . i don't fully remember this book. and what i mean by that is, i read this book in May, moved on, and haven't thought much about it since. River and I both have our secrets, and that’s okay. Because I understand him. And he understands me. hm. so, like, um, well, yeah. that whole out of nowhere plot point was weird, felt very jarring, and didn't make a whole lotta sense. personally, i did not think it fit with the tone of the story, it really pulled me out of the book, and its never fully utilized in the first place. therefore i ask, why was it included? for real, why? someone, please, explain, thank you.
