About this deal

The Galaxy A52 5G comes with a 4,500mAh cell and the company claims the smartphone will offer a two-day battery life. In practice, we found it lasted much closer to a single day of full usage, but if you’re not using the phone a lot each day you may find it’ll last you two days. You’ll particularly notice the difference when playing mobile games, and we noticed it when scrolling through social media feeds as well. If you don’t like this feature, it can also be turned off in the settings, but we’d heartily recommend trying it out first to see what you think. Your warranty will last up to 12 months, with the length of the warranty varying because of the refurbished grade of the Samsung phone. However, those areas are still highly limited and tend to be in major city centres. For most people, 5G is a future insurance, with these kind of speeds not really being all too readily available yet.

Samsung’s Galaxy A52 5G is on sale now in the US, UK and Australia after being revealed in March 2021, and it went on sale during April of the same year. That met our expectations of the battery life on the Galaxy A52 5G though, and it was capable of lasting a full day in most of our testing, with us often coming to charge it at night with between 30% and 10% leftover before a recharge. The Galaxy A52 5G comes running Samsung’s own One UI 3.1 software that is based on Android 11. That means you get all the latest from Android, and we’d expect Samsung to keep this up to date for at least a few years after launch. With dimensions of 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4mm it’s fairly large despite being a cheaper handset. It weighs 189 grams, which is neither heavy nor light for a smartphone of this type.

Not the Best, Not the Worst

If you want super-fast 5G connectivity, you’ll want to opt for this member of the new Galaxy A series of smartphones. It allows you to make use of next-gen internet connectivity, but most will find it’s just good future proofing right now for when the technology becomes more prolific.

Refurbished tech comes in many shapes and sizes depending on how heavily the device has been used. The more scratched up the phone, the less money you’ll pay for it! Across the entire phone, there are some surprisingly impressive specs. It features a Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, a 4500mAh battery and a capable processor with either a 5GB or 8GB RAM. These refurbished grades are priced differently and a phone in fair cosmetic condition will be much more affordable than a phone in pristine condition. As for performance output, the Galaxy A52 5G is a significant step-up over its predecessor. In the Geekbench 5 single-core CPU benchmark, the Galaxy A52 5G almost doubled the performance of last year’s Galaxy A51, and it’s roughly 50% faster in multi-core processing as well.If you think you’ll one day make use of 5G connectivity, we’d recommend choosing a phone with the next-gen option rather than one without, as it means you won’t have to upgrade your phone to get the faster internet when it’s a more readily available option. On one particularly heavy usage day we found the phone dropped out at around 10PM, but if you’re not intending to use the phone solidly you’ll likely be happy with the battery life on offer here. We'll likely have to wait for quite a while before we see any significant fall in price. Because it is already a low cost handset, prices aren't likely to fall much anytime soon. That display uses Super AMOLED and has a Full HD+ resolution, and we found the 800 nits of brightness to look fantastic when we turned the screen all the way up to its maximum brightness setting. If you’re looking for a smartphone to watch video on you’re unlikely to be disappointed in this display.

Despite its low price, the Samsung Galaxy A52 is a really high performing phone. It offers 5G and a 120Hz refresh rate at a price far below what you would normally need to pay to get those features. There is a powerful 64MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and an aperture of f/1.8. That’s only one of four elements on the rear shooter too. There’s also a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP depth scanner and a 5MP macro camera. Where the iPhone can’t compete, however, is in the stamina department. Running for 18hrs 23mins in our in-house battery test, the Galaxy A52 5G lasted almost seven hours longer than Apple’s newest mid-ranger. Again, though, it mostly matched its rivals, with only the Moto G 5G Plus stretching out a bit of a lead. Samsung sells this phone with either 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. We couldn’t find the phone in that latter model in either the US, UK or Australia, so it seems you’ll be limited to that first option. If you need extra space, there’s microSD support up to 1TB. The scores are similar to handsets like the Moto G 5G Plus, which is a touch cheaper than Samsung’s option but scored 1,822. Don’t expect game-changing performance from the Galaxy A52 5G, but it’s powerful enough for most peopleIt won't be any surprise to hear that between this and the Samsung Galaxy S21, this is the much weaker device. It has a lower resolution display, feels slightly cheaper and can't compete on camera or processing power. In a nutshell...yes. The Samsung Galaxy A52 is arguably one of the best value phones Samsung has right now. That's because despite its low costs, it is offering some surprisingly high-end specs. Battery Capacity: Typical value tested under third-party laboratory condition. Typical value is the estimated average value considering the deviation in battery capacity among the battery samples tested under IEC 61960 standard. Rated (minimum) capacity is 4,370mAh. Actual battery life may vary depending on network environment, usage patterns and other factors. A punch-hole camera isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but Samsung has clearly made a strong effort to try and hide this away here, and it’s a suitable alternative to a notch at the top of the screen.

We found the software on the phone worked well during our review period, and if you’ve previously used an Android phone you should settle into using this handset without any significant issues. Samsung Galaxy A52 5G camera The Galaxy A52 5G is designed to have a solid build without the bells and whistles you’ll find on flagship smartphones. For that reason, you may feel the build of the handset is a touch cheap with its plastic rear and aluminum frame. Choose the best Samsung phone for you by using The Big Phone Store’s grades system. From perfect condition to scratched and bumped, whatever you need, we’ve got it! In fact, for the price the specs here are really quite surprising! How long will it be before the A52 5G prices drop? The price of a refurbished Samsung Galaxy phones for sale can vary, but at The Big Phone Store, we offer several choices at different price points. If you’ll be playing a lot of mobile games you may want to look elsewhere, but this is still a capable phone, its chipset just means you may have to wait a touch longer for apps and games to load rather than it being unable to undertake basic tasks.
