About this deal

Hilary Bradley is determined to prove that Mark is innocent, but she’s on a lonely, dangerous quest. Even when she discovers that the murdered girl was witness to a horrific crime years earlier, the police are certain she’s throwing up a smoke screen to protect her husband. Only a quirky detective named Cab Bolton seems willing to believe Hilary’s story. The rare old drawing of St Cuthbert’s in last week’s column, suggesting the bone house was the centre structure is, at second glance, not the case. It’s a similar building which is still in existence – the little cottage on the corner next to the Conservative Club (which can also be seen in drawing, when it was the grammar school. Peter Hoffman - the sheriff's best friend, local man who is indebted to Glory's mom for keeping his granddaughter safe the night the fire killed her mother and brothers.

But Detective Sarah Noble feels that there is more to the investigation and she's proven right when her friend's son Elliott shares that he's having nightmares and visions again. He warns of a darkness coming that wants to bring pain and suffering, and Sarah believes Cora to be in danger. Or, more accurately, in danger again, as she has a tragic past, barely escaping captivity from the notorious Bone House as a child. Now Sarah is investigating those events to see if they're connected. Can she figure out where the true danger lies before it's too late for everyone? The thing I loved most about this book was how so much of it centers around love, family, grief, and moving forward. There are so many great quotes and messages throughout this story that it seriously made me tear up, which almost never happens. I felt like this was a timely fit for my life given everything that happened in the last few months and it was so comforting to read this and hear that it's okay to move on when bad things happen to us, and more importantly that our loved ones would want us to. I loved Aderyn's family dynamics, her friendship and soft romance with Ellis, and her newfound appreciation for her sister's goat who came in clutch multiple times and saved everyone's lives. I mean really, anytime an animal is going to save the day I'm obviously here for it.

Historical Background

During the few years around 1860 the church underwent a radical rebuild, including taking down a portion of the south wall, perhaps the area surrounding the old ‘bone house’ structure. A teenager murdered. A teacher accused. A secret that won't stay buried... The Bone House is the unforgettable murder mystery by Brian Freeman, author of The Nightbird and The Voice Inside. Sure to enthral fans of James Patterson and David Baldacci.

This was another killer addition in the Slayton Thriller series. This town just seems to attract and create all kinds of deranged and disturbed individuals. I enjoy how Caroline Mitchell creates tension and builds her plots. She also knows how to create both creepy and mentally wounded characters. Just when I thought I knew everything, I was thrown off by a twist and a reveal. I enjoyed the layers in this story and how everything came together. Well, I’m afraid my plea for further information about the Churchtown “bone house” has drawn a blank. Nobody can help me extend my theory.Gary Jensen- Dance coach at Green Bay University, seen conversing with Glory the night of her death by Amy Leigh, a former dance student of Hilary Bradley, referred to as a "creep" by former coworkers

Mark accompanies his wife and her dance students to Florida for a competition. It's supposed to be a relaxing getaway, but Mark is accosted on the beach by Tresa's younger sister, Glory. When Glory is found dead, a witness is found that saw Mark kissing Glory very late at night. He insists they didn't kiss, and that he didn't kill the girl. Hillary wants to believe him, but she's exhausted from standing by him during the ordeal of the past year. And she's not quite sure he's telling the truth.

However, a bone hole cannot be totally ruled out, as many others around the country had shallow, circular or square holes for the purpose.
