About this deal

I ( A)beseech [ a] you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies ( B)a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your [ b]reasonable service. 2 And ( C)do not be conformed to this world, but ( D)be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may ( E)prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Serve God with Spiritual Gifts So the answer is, Yes, God can and does command his people to rejoice. Even though joy is not controlled by our will-power, and even though it is a fruit of God’s Spirit and beyond our natural resources, nevertheless we are commanded to have this experience! I want to become a fruitful Christian, and I need Your help. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit to help me grow more like Jesus. Continue to fill me daily with Your spirit. Help me to be sensitive to obey Your Word and Your voice. I trust You, Father, to work in my life so that more and more I will reflect the life of Christ and give life and hope to a hungry world.

First, Christian joy is not an act of will-power, but a spontaneous, emotional response of the heart. Christian joy has this in common with all joy, whether Christian or not.

If you haven't yet learned to distinguish your shepherd's voice from all the other voices that clamor for your attention, don't despair. It's the mature sheep who know His voice, not the lambs. Getting to know the Lord's voice takes time, experience, and training. The joy and peace of believers arise chiefly from their hopes. What is laid out upon them is but little, compared with what is laid up for them; therefore the more hope they have, the more joy and peace they have . . . Christians should desire and labor after an abundance of hope. (Commentary on Romans 15:13) For I say, ( F)through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, ( G)not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt ( H)to each one a measure of faith. 4 For ( I)as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so ( J)we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is ( K)given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us ( L) prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; ( M)he who teaches, in teaching; 8 ( N)he who exhorts, in exhortation; ( O)he who gives, with liberality; ( P)he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, ( Q)with cheerfulness. Behave Like a Christian Imagine an apple orchard at harvest time. The trees are loaded with bright red apples, their branches bent under the weight of the new crop. The farmer is delighted. Passersby, whose appetites are whetted by the sight and aroma of the fresh fruit, stop to buy apples, then hurry away to enjoy and share them with others.

Third, let us set our minds on the biblical expressions and evidences of God’s love for repentant sinners. For example, Romans 8:35–39 says,Can God command us to rejoice if joy is not an act of will-power but a spontaneous emotional response of the heart and is not a product of natural resources but a fruit of the Holy Spirit? The answer that lies on the face of Scripture at many places is: Yes, he can, and he does. Salvation is always a free gift from God - once and for all. There is nothing we can do to earn it or add to it. However, it is also a progressive work to be fully "worked out" in us by our obedience through the help of the Holy Spirit. If we are to be fruitful Christians, we must choose to obey the Lord. Pruning for Fruitfulness

For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service]. 4 For just as in one [physical] body we have many parts, and these parts do not all have the same function or special use, 5 so we, who are many, are [nevertheless just] one body in Christ, and individually [we are] parts one of another [mutually dependent on each other]. 6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; 7 if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; 8 or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, [ d]with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness. JEHOVAH appreciates willing sacrifices made by his servants to express their love for him and their submission to his will. In ancient times, he accepted various animal sacrifices and other offerings. These were made according to the Mosaic Law by Israelites seeking to obtain forgiveness for sins and to express thanksgiving. In the Christian congregation, Jehovah does not require us to offer such formal, material sacrifices. However, in chapter 12 of his letter to Christians in Rome, the apostle Paul shows that we are still expected to offer sacrifices. Let us see how. As we present ourselves before You, show us how to move with Your Spirit to rise to the fullness of all You want to do in us, for us, and through us.Look among the nations and watch—Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you. – Habakkuk 1:5 Recently I had the opportunity to ponder the fullness of the truths in Romans 8:19 – all creation groans in anticipation of the manifestation of the sons of God. Aglow has been prepared for such a time as this. God has poured His foundational truths into us. He has revealed Himself to us in ways that we are confident in who He will be for us in every situation we face. His promises live in our hearts and cause expectation to rise daily. The prophetic words spoken over us have become as real in our hearts as they are in His. Our trust, our hope, and our confidence are placed fully upon Jesus in all things. He has never failed us and He will not start now! We Know Some Things Strong's 3588: The, the definite article. Including the feminine he, and the neuter to in all their inflections; the definite article; the. R) Let love be without hypocrisy. ( S)Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 ( T) Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, ( U)in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 ( V)rejoicing in hope, ( W)patient [ c] in tribulation, ( X)continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 ( Y)distributing to the needs of the saints, ( Z)given [ d] to hospitality. This scripture tells us that the Lord prunes those branches (or areas in our lives) that __________ _______________________________ as well as those branches that __________________________. This is so we will become _________________________________. One method of pruning (or being made clean) is by receiving His ________________________.

God, the Master Fruit Grower, cares for us in much the same way as a fruit rancher cares for his trees. Every stage of growth is governed by loving attention. This includes the necessary pruning to strengthen the tree, to control unwanted growth, to increase fruitfulness, and to make it fit in with the master plan for the entire orchard. That is the second contrast to help us understand Christian joy. First, it is not an act of will-power, but a spontaneous, emotional response of the heart. Second, it is not superficial and flimsy, but deep and firm. This passage encourages us to _____________________________ our salvation, at the same time knowing that God _____________________ in us to will and to act according to His good purpose. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He trims clean so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you."
