I did think that the cable could have been a bit longer, and also it was quite bulky so it was sometimes difficult to keep it from getting in the way. The “standard” Andis blade is UltraEdge. These blades go through a hardening process and have a chrome finish for extra durability. For most purposes, UltraEdge does a great job.

I am very pleased with this product. Some reviewers have said that it cuts through their dogs hair like a knife through hot butter, and whilst I wouldn't say it's quite that good, it's certainly not too far off. Although she hardly looks like she's had a professional trim, my dog's coat is fairly even and tidy looking. After we tried to clip her with the Wahl budget clippers, she looked more like a very scraggy sheep!

The Andis Excel 2 is a 2 speed corded clipper. Available in Sparkle Pink. This is a run-out model that's being replaced soon by the upgraded Excel 5. The Excel is part of the SMC range. This means it comes with a #10 CeramicEdge blade, which is more durable and cooler than UltraEdge alternatives. While the difference might not be huge, CeramicEdge blades are great for maintaining lower temperatures during long grooming sessions. I was pleased to find that this product comes with a rather generous quantity of clipper oil. The oil really does seem to make a definite difference, so make sure to keep putting it on the blade before and during clipping. Rated Heavy Duty for the majority of coat types. For difficult or matted coats, upgrading to the KM5 or KM10 is recommended. Although the KM2 can handle all coat types, proper coat prep and deshedding matters more. MBG2 – The MBG2 range is similar to the RACD, but with a heavy-duty exterior for extra durability. MBG2 clippers are powered by a rotary motor and are suitable for medium coats. Models in this range also come with either an UltraEdge or CeramicEdge blade. If comfort is very important (as it should be), you’ll be happy to know that they’re incredibly comfortable to hold and not at all slippery and as mentioned above. Unless you’re buying a clipper with an adjustable blade, most Andis clippers come with either UltraEdge or CeramicEdge detachable blades. The included blade is usually a 10, so you’ll probably want to buy different length blades and guards depending on the cut. Andis sells a huge range of blade lengths and attachment comb sets, so you won’t have trouble finding one with the right length. The first is the price. This is an expensive clipper that costs considerably more than the AGC2 Super. If you’re just buying a clipper for grooming your pet at home, I recommend saving money and buying one of the AGC models. The only negative thing I have to say about these clippers is that the instructions are not very clear - we did struggle for a while trying to figure out how to change the blades - but once you have that sorted, the process is very simple.
