I owned the previous generation model of this exact hi-hat stand for 8 years and it never wore out at all, it was just as strong as it was the day I got it.

The only real downside is that over the years, it seems the quality of Pearl’s more affordable hardware has gone down slightly, as the latest version doesn’t feel quite as beefy as the one I owned years ago. When we get to 5000 Series production the weight starts to increase and the tubing diameters get bigger. The DW 5000 Hi-Hat stand is made for serious ‘road’ use and will stand up (no puns please) to pretty much everything a drummer or road-crew can throw at it. The footboard is of the chunky 9000 Series design which is great for wider feet and guys’n’gals who like the solid feel of a larger plate underfoot.
