About this deal

This article has covered basically all the information you need to know about Eufy Homebase for the Eufy video doorbells. However, if you still have questions, then read on. 1. Is a Homebase required for the Eufy Video Doorbell?

The downside of having a battery-powered doorbell is that you will have to recharge it via the microUSB port from time to time. Eufy claims the battery will last up to six months between charges, though, so you shouldn’t need to do this very often. The other difference is that it records in a 4:3 aspect ratio, which means you can see people’s faces when they’re close to the door and can be crucial when you need to spot little details for a police report should you ever need to give one. Next, there’s the Arlo Video Doorbell, which offers the best image quality of all. This camera requires a cloud subscription to make the most of it, and works well as an addition to any house with existing Arlo cameras. the Clarity: The built-in Sony 2K sensor and professional-grade lens allow you to view activity in picture-perfect resolution. See visitors in sharp detail as they approach your door.Advanced HDR and distortion correction ensure that every video is recorded in twice the quality of 1080p video doorbells, even with night vision. Although this model is wireless, it doesn’t connect to your home network. Instead, it connects to the Eufy HomeBase, a small hub that plugs into your home network via Ethernet. The disadvantage of this is that you’ll have another box lying around; but the advantage is a dedicated wireless connection, which proved to be very strong and stable throughout testing. The HomeBase to which all your footage is recorded comes with 16GB of storage. And since the HomeBase will be located inside, it means that even if the doorbell is stolen, your footage remains safe. Both rings and motion detection events are saved to the HomeBase’s integrated 16GB of storage. There’s no way to upgrade this amount, and the 2K footage is quite large, so you’ll get around two weeks of footage. If you hook up other Eufy cameras to the HomeBase, then you’ll seen that storage allocation disappear even faster. An upgrade to let you expand storage via USB is in the works.

Over our two-week testing period, our camera was triggered close to three dozen times recording 10-second clips each time and is currently holding strong at 90% battery life. Extrapolating that data, we’d be looking at around 140 days of battery life, or around four-and-a-half months, which is a significant improvement on our battery-powered Ring that needs to be re-charged every month. Eufy has promised users that the USB slot in Homebase 2 will support USB storage in the future and is actively working on new technology that will make this possible. All recordings are stored directly onto the HomeBase that is located inside your home. This means that even if someone were to forcibly remove the doorbell all your data will remain secure.

Effective, easy to install and free to run - the Eufy is a brilliant wireless doorbell

However, you will not be able to make a standalone connection to your current Wi-Fi with 3 out of the 4 Eufy Video doorbells, and one works without Homebase. Thanks to the 160-degree lens and the 2K video resolution (shot at a 4:3 aspect ratio of 2560 x 1920), the Eufy Video Doorbell 2K captures some of the best-quality video I’ve seen. During the day, footage is sharp and incredibly detailed, letting you see exactly what’s going on and revealing plenty of detail in people’s faces.

First, you can set the motion sensitivity, dialling it down if you receive too many alerts, or up if you find that it’s missing some. I found that the basic level was good enough for me. Next, the doorbell is set to detect humans only, although you can tell it to detect all motion if you want to capture more. As well as detecting humans, the camera has facial detection, but not recognition. When someone approaches the door, video footage features a thumbnail of a face, so you can see clearly who was calling.

For renters, the Eufy Video Doorbell is the best smart doorbell you can buy

Enjoy half a year of surveillance from just one charge. Recharge with ease so you always know who’s at your door. If you buy an additional video doorbell to your existing setup, another Homebase is not included nor required. One Homebase can power multiple Eufy Video Doorbells…

Eufy has launched not one but two Homebase devices. Except for one, every Eufy video doorbell requires either Homebase or Homebase 2. With the HomeBase 2 being the newer and improved version, you might appreciate certain things about the Homebase (1). Setting up the system isn’t exactly as simple as pairing some new headphones, but it isn’t as difficult as you’d might expect, either, especially if you’re drilling into wood.It does not send an alarm every time a stray animal passes by your front door, minimizing false alarms. The Homebase connects to the Internet via a direct connection to your Wi-Fi router using an Ethernet cable. The Homebase also stores the original videos, so the recordings will not be lost even if the camera is damaged. First, you get greater coverage. Since the doorbells get the internet through Homebase, you can cover your entire house with 2 units. We hope this article will answer your questions regarding the connection between the Eufy video doorbell and the Homebase device!
