About this deal

Arriving July 7, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Bundle: Gift Edition includes everything you'd find in the regular Bundle with some fantastic twists: a themed storage box featuring different (equally epic) artwork, a variant color of the oversized spindown life counter, and a Collector Booster for even more cards to discover. It's the supercharged version of an amazing gift for yourself and friends! Holiday Releases Await Halfling creature for Farmer Cotton; Field-Tested Frying Pan and Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit. This token was printed with " Tolkien Creature" types. Dealing 3 damage to each opponent might not seem like a lot in a 40-life format like Commander but, considering the amount of times we’ll be able to reset this ability, that’s undoubtedly going to add up. Copying an instant or sorcery spell is best reserved for when you’ve got a critical spell in hand, like an extra-turn spell. Taking two extra turns is likely to surprise even the most cunning forces of Mordor.

Traditional Foil Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit Traditional Foil Sam, Loyal Attendant Foil-Etched Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit Display Commander Traditional Foil Galadriel, Elven-Queen Traditional Foil Gandalf, Westward Voyager Foil-Etched Galadriel, Elven-Queen Display Commander Perhaps the handy little token markers will help our dearest incoming players with all the memory work?” The Hosts of Mordor‘s commander, Sauron, Lord of the Rings, lines out its two main strategies pretty well: reanimation and amass orcs. The way I upgrade the precon changes heavily between the LOTR-only upgrade section and the regular upgrade section: the LOTR-only section will enhance our Elf theme without much enhancing Politics because there's no real political cards to add from the main set. The regular upgrade section will instead focus on both Politics and Elf themes. Not all who wander are lost, like the awesome cards celebrating The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth that have found their way into a Secret Lair drop releasing later this year. Stay tuned for when and what to expect from this incredible collaboration soon. The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth on MTG Arena In addition to an epic tabletop release, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth arrives on MTG Arena June 20! From the One Ring and the temptation it offers to the story beats and characters we love in The Lord of the Rings, this release brings the same tabletop- Magic-meets-Middle-earth adventure to your PC and mobile phone. As soon as you have four Sagas in play, old Tom Bombadil becomes a big problem for your opponents to deal with, gaining hexproof and indestructible. It can be worth casting him tactically, when you already have four Sagas on the field so he can’t be immediately removed, by the by. Once he’s Hexproof and Indestructible, he’s basically staying that way.

If I happen to go overly hard on a fan-favourite commander of yours or miss out some overly flavourful text or mechanic attached to a card, I’m sorry. November's releases for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth build on the excitement of the set just in time for the holidays! Magic Celebration Event for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Human Knight creature with trample and haste for Éowyn, Shieldmaiden; Forth Eorlingas!; Oath of Eorl and Riders of Rohan. In terms of value, I think Elven Council does pretty alright. I doubt Círdan the Shipwright will keep such a high price for long, but I’d bet it’ll still hold some value. Heroic Intervention and Swan Song are amazing cards to have in a precon.MAGIC MEETS THE LORD OF THE RINGS—Experience the beloved story of The Lord of the Rings with the strategic gameplay of Magic: The Gathering, facing off against opponents in thrilling magical battles lands and Arbor Elf, Elvish Mystic, Paradise Druid, Wose Pathfinder, Elvish Archdruid, Farhaven Elf, Wood Elves, Elvish Piper, Growth Spiral, Rampant Growth, Cultivate, Travel Through Caradhras, Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Commander's Sphere, Model of Unity Something very notable about LotR for me is that the books are basically the single most influential work of their genre. They’ve informed the medieval fantasy genre for decades: Dungeons and Dragons, Magic’s early sets, countless video games, tons of books, movies, even works that directly try to question or oppose Tolkien’s views like George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. There’s even a very recognizable style of fantasy that gets called Tolkienesque, even though it can be argued that most “Tolkienesque” fantasy at best takes the most superficial aspects of Tolkien’s work, usually missing the more interesting and deep aspects of the books.

Cards printed in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, and therefore having that set symbol and code, are: The final commander, Erestor is a payoff for all the voting cards. It’s apparently quite persuasive character, as opponents are more likely to vote for your choice, if it’s in the play. The Monarch mechanic can be deceptive at times, and fights to wrestle control over the crown are likely to ensue, so new players should be wary of when to be defensive and offer value trades and when to full-send their board state to threaten lethal on another player. The reminder text of the Monarch isn’t as bad as a mechanic I have yet to get to, so overall it’s alright.First, there will be cards that reward you for gaining life. This plays nicely with Food tokens, as you can sacrifice them for 3 life each. Second, there will also be some token synergies, which also work well with Food. But What About the Second Theme? For fans new and old across Magic and The Lord of the Rings, this is a chance to celebrate with an unforgettable event for an amazing set. We'll show you more about the Magic Celebration event later this year. Secret Lair Joins the Fellowship

card draw; Galadriel, Elven-Queen (lol), Erestor of the Council, Legolas Greenleaf, Cirdan the Shipwright, Gandalf, Westward Voyager, Plea for Power, Lorien Revealed, Mystic Confluence, Mirror of Galadriel, Song of Earendil Traditional Foil Sauron, Lord of the Rings Traditional Foil Saruman, the White Hand Foil-Etched Sauron, Lord of the Rings Display Commander Since Saruman runs off non- Creature spells, your Orc Army could also benefit from the greatest Nike Air Force Ones (i.e. Swiftfoot Boots), alongside providing payoffs for rebuilding after a failed assault on enemy territory. Perhaps having friends like Storm-Kiln Artist, Goblin Electromancer and Archmage Emeritus could assist in our plans… Of course, as the second most powerful antagonist in Lord of the Rings, the role of the secondary commander of this precon belongs to Saruman. Pippin, Warden of Isengard can be especially useful thanks to its two abilities. Being able to create a Food token at any time makes it so that you can get them during your opponents’ turns, which would cause Merry, Warden of Isengard to trigger during that turn, somewhat bypassing its “this ability triggers only once each turn” rule. The second ability on Pippin can also be a massive game ender if you have enough creatures on the field.

3. Sauron, the Dark Lord

Basically, all the new cards support either Food tokens or lifegain (or both) or bring some additional kind of value, usually related to generating or benefiting from tokens. Aragorn is, quite fittingly, bringing the monarch mechanic to the table. This mechanic is so powerful, that every card that can grant you becoming a monarch should be taken very seriously.
