About this deal

Key specs – Screen size: 15.6in; Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080; Screen technology: IPS; Video inputs: Mini-HDMI, USB-C; Refresh rate: 60Hz; Weight (with case): 800g Mini LED technology, without a doubt, is paving the way for the future of display technology. The advancements it offers, particularly in terms of brightness, contrast, and color accuracy, make it a superior choice for most applications. Whether you’re a professional looking for precise color accuracy or a gamer aiming for a visually immersive experience, a mini LED monitor is sure to enhance your digital interactions. The magnetic folio case (which covers the screen and a portion of the rear when closed) doubles as a stand that can be angled at either 105° or 120°. This monitor can also be propped either horizontally or vertically, although you’ll need to install the LG OnScreen Control app to access vertical orientation mode. Laptop or console gamers looking for extra screen space or a reliable display for on-the-go gaming will love the Asus ROG Strix portable gaming monitor. It has a 17.3-inch screen that provides crisp 1080p resolution and a truly impressive 240Hz refresh rate for buttery smooth action, and the 3ms refresh rate provides near-instant reactions to your inputs.

Even if you don’t work from home and just want to sit down at your desk and play on one of the best gaming PCs after a long day, rearranging your desk setup and adding new accessories can help you get into the zone and be less distracted during your downtime.

HP DisplayPort to HDMI True 4K Adapter

Connect one display with up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz using the HDMI port and one display with up to 6K resolution at 60 Hz using a Thunderbolt port. Construction: Durability is a must when you are taking your portable monitor on the go with you. Look at the materials used to construct each portable monitor so you can be sure that your new monitor will be able to withstand regular travel. Like many portable monitors, the Acer PM161Q isn’t much to look at, but this one happens to deliver where it counts. It connects to your devices via USB-C and has a micro-USB port for additional power delivery if you’re connecting to an older phone. Both cables are included in the box alongside a USB-A power adapter. It has a 15.6in, 60Hz 1080p IPS panel with good viewing angles and an anti-glare, matte finish to keep reflections at bay. And although it doesn’t come with a fully protective folio case, the supplied folding stand can be attached to the front to protect the screen while it’s stowed away.

Customisation: Most portable monitors don’t have an on-screen display (OSD), so you won’t be able to play with any settings other than adjusting the brightness. How much should I spend?

The best portable monitors you can buy in 2023

While I’ve found this new mini-monitor to be a real game changer, let’s face it, I’ll likely swap it out with another device or move things around in a couple of months. Still though, I’m really pleased with how everything turned out. If you’re looking for an additional display to add to your own desk setup but don’t need another full-size monitor, then a mini-monitor like this one could be perfect. At the same time, you can also take it with you if a laptop screen just doesn’t cut it anymore when multitasking. More from Tom's Guide
