About this deal

Green Arrow: an activist billionaire with a mechanical arm, Oliver Queen has been part of Batman's forces ever since the Dark Knight returned. As a Marxist, he often engages in fierce argument over ideology with the much more right-wing Question. Batman as traitor to America is the very best Batman story that could be told and the plot is complicated and orchestrated by Batman, the new Batgirl (formerly Robin in the last book), former gang members turned mini-bats, and several aging superheroe--Capt. Marvel, Plastic Man, Green Arrow, Atom, and Green Lantern. Miller extrapolates our media-obssessed popular culture and turns it more garish and ugly than it currently is. Lex Luthor: now runs America, and uses a hologram of what the people think is the real President as a figurehead. He controls the more powerful heroes like Superman, Captain Marvel and Flash by keeping their loved ones hostage. Who are these people? What are their relationships? Every character’s friendship, love, or hatred toward one another is only established through us knowing traditional status quo established by other comics.

Name of Cain: The second Batwoman, Katherine "Kate" Kane, was introduced in the Renee Montoya/Question storyline of 52, and it took several weeks for anybody (Even Renee) to make even the slightest connection between Kane and Cain. This comic is filled with horrible cliches. Asteroid headed for earth. Sea monster. A giant monster destroying the city. That's it? 20 years and that's what you come up with? Then there's Lex Luthor trying to control the world, assisted by Brainiac who does I don't even know what. Those are the villains. Seriously. And Batman has little to nothing to do with them. Cheang, Michael (December 2, 2015). "Why does everyone hate The Dark Knight Strikes Again?" . Retrieved June 3, 2018. Is this the work of fallen artist who genuinely thinks he's making something good? The work of someone who is actively trying to annoy his audience? More likely it's the work of a man who's frittered away his talent years earlier by indulging all his worst qualities and got offered a million dollars to do this, and just shitted it out because hey that's a lot of money. Wonder Woman is also depicted with an overt hatred of men in this setting. Her first scene has her angrily pushing her way past a civilian man on the street whilst calling him a "sperm bank". The rest of her dialogue and inner thoughts shows that she seems to view men in general as worthless. The one exception is Superman. Her reaction to Batman's actions is to suggest killing him and handing his head over to the authorities. And no, she wasn't kidding about that. It's always great to see all the metahumans in awe of Batman, someone with many and great gifts, but someone who is merely human. He always manages to outsmart every one and get every one behind him. Saturn Girl—a young, thirteen-year-old who can see into the future. She adopts the name and outfit of the 31st-century Legionnaire.

Do yourself a favor and read Miller's Batman graphic novels as he re-creates a darker, more troubled Batman and a Gotham that parodies modern life at the same time it fulfills the definition of a crime-ridden cesspool Batman has to mop up. Catgirl: Carrie Kelly, formerly Robin, is now Catgirl (after Catwoman) but still Batman's able second-in-command. The Joker as an elderly catatonic prisoner of Arkham Asylum. He becomes a criminal again when he sees Batman's return, and sets in motion a final confrontation with the hero.

La historia: Sí, me gustó y bastante. Según entendí no sé vital para el universo DC pero me ha parecido muy atrapante. Aunque debo decir que de las 3 partes en que está dividido el cómic la tercera y última es más floja que las dos primeras.
