About this deal

Readers in the U.S. have really been loving The Love of My Life. I get it. Rosie Walsh’s latest novel is full of twists and turns, and I never was fully certain where the story would go. A few years later after therapy and getting her life together she changes her name to Emma to try and put a lid on her past.

Emma and Leo have a great life. Emma is in remission from blood cancer, she and Leo have a beautiful daughter, and fulfilling jobs - until one day when obituary writer, Leo, uncovers something that unravels everything he thinks he knows about his wife. Emma has always feared that if Leo found out the truth, he would never forgive her, and it looks as if she was right. The secret(s) are deep and the trust is something Leo already struggles with. Pe când Emma încearcă să-și ascundă trecutul, el iese la iveală în cele din urmă. Dacă viața lor rămâne la fel după ce află Leo adevărul nu rămâne decât să descoperiți singuri. In a Nutshell: Great in bits and pieces but doesn’t come together into a cohesive whole. This might have ended up a strong favourite of mine if I could have connected with the writing style better. But the disconnect with the plot and the decisions of one MC resulted in a strictly average experience. I read Ghosted a few years and loved it because it went in an unexpected direction. So I was very excited to sit down with the author's latest book, The Love of my Life. Thankfully it was a another great read. There's just something about opening up a book and not quite knowing what the author has in store for you. The fact Rosie Walsh is able to pull that off that feeling until darn near the end is pretty remarkable. A bruising and beautiful mystery that kept me guessing till the very end, The Love of My Life delivers on every level. I’m a huge fan of Rosie Walsh.”I have held you at night for ten years and I didn’t even know your name.We have a child together. A dog, a house. And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn’t really exist. Even her name isn’t real. Leo and Emma seem to have it all, especially as she nears the end of her cancer treatment, but one day Leo perceives Emma is acting differently, which in turn leads to him doing something he would never do - snooping in her things. A thread unravels from there and develops into this whole story. While there were definitely secrets to uncover, it wasn’t exactly what Leo (nor I!) thought. This is about Leo, who discovers that his wife Emma is hiding things about her past from him, and the more he looks into things, the more secrets he uncovers. Domestic drama ensues. Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she’s told them about herself is a lie.

How do we really build a new life? About the mystery of identity and the sometimes cost of love, Walsh’s latest is a stunner.”The multiple points of view Walsh employed served the story perfectly; I raced through this book to learn the truth alongside Leo.

The Love of My Life is my favorite kind of thriller—gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.” this was a such an odd reading experience because the story is pretty much a hybrid. the book begins as if its just a contemporary fiction story, but then starts to transform into a mystery/thriller, only to finish as a womens fiction novel. its as if the author didnt know what kind of story she wanted to write, so she just combined them all into one. This is a book that for some reason, I was certain I was not going to like, and it totally took me by surprise. It's part domestic thriller/part romance, but wholly captivating, and I loved it! This family just captured my heart and had me 110% invested in their future as a unit. Walsh did a fabulous job in creating a world filled with laughter - as well as horrendous mental suffering! - that I could disappear into for the duration of this story. And to think, the author was pregnant and/or had a newborn to take care of while she was writing this book. Respect and Applause, Applause, Applause! Perfect for your next book club, Rosie Walsh’s The Love of My Life is a love story meets thriller about the complexities of deceit within marriage.” And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes bydoing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers thewoman he loves doesn’t really exist.Even her name isn’t real. It will break your heart, too, when you read how this story unfolds through the personal viewpoints of Emma and Leo in timelines of the past and present day. It's a mystery more than a thriller with more drama than romance and I was amazed how the author created such a compelling and twisty story without violence of any kind. How refreshing!
