About this deal

I love the discussions we have had after reading this book; Mr D in particular is unsure if the tiger is real or not… and I love that he is at this stage of his comprehension at the moment too where he can ask questions and I can help aid his understanding of the story. The story touches on some lovely philosophical ideas which can be challenging for adults let alone children to consider, but it does so in such a gentle way. A Tiger In The Kitchen written by Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-02-08 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

When Grandma says she’s seen a tiger in the garden, Nora doesn’t believe her. She’s too old to play grandma’s silly games! Everyone knows that tigers live in jungles, not gardens. So even when Nora sees dragonflies as big as birds, and plants that try and eat her toy giraffe, and a polar bear that likes fishing, she knows there’s absolutely, DEFINITELY no way there could be a tiger in the garden . . . Could there?Nora and Jeff, her giraffe, are bored at Grandma’s, there is nothing to do. When Grandma suggests they go for a walk in the garden to look for the tiger, Nora does not believe her. Nor does she believe there are dragonflies as big as birds, plants that can eat you whole, and a grumpy polar bear. But off her and Jeff set anyway, reluctant at first until discoveries are made. They really enjoyed making these items and we also followed it up with these split pin tigers and bears– although these were done in the first couple of days after Mr H arrived and I didn’t manage to get pictures. Nora, when visiting her grandma, suffers a severe case of boredom. Encouraged by grandma to explore outside on the pretext that she believes there to be a tiger living in the garden. Doubtful of this, young Nora and her toy giraffe, Jeff, nevertheless embark on an adventure which sees them encounter carnivorous plants, dragonflies, a grumpy polar bear, and the fabled tiger. 'Extraordinarily friendly' and polite, the tiger and Nora become firm friends once the latter has convinced herself that he is indeed real. It S A Tiger written by David LaRochelle and has been published by Chronicle Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08 with Juvenile Fiction categories. In an attempt to cure her granddaughter's boredom, a grandmother casually mentions that there is a tiger in her garden. The resulting, fruitful search is enough to dent the certainty of even the most sceptical of child explorers!

This book has great read aloud potential and would make a lovely lap read with a little one cuddled up before bed. It would also be a good story time book for the young set with opportunities for audience input when they see things in the visual narrative Nora doesn’t. Bored at home with nothing to do, Nora is sent out to play in the garden in search of a tiger. Have your imaginations at the ready as our story unfolds and we see Nora’s world grow around her. If you don’t have a lot of space, you can even grow these wildflowers in pots. We recommend you choose one that’s at least 30 cm wide to give them enough space to thrive. Nora refuses to believe outlandish tales of dragonflies as big as birds, grumpy polar bears, or a magnificent tiger all allegedly residing in Grandma's garden. Nora's too old for silly games. But this charming debut picture book proves one is never too young or too old to dream. Full color.

If and when the weather brightens up I plan to set up a little hunt for the children in our own garden – I’m going to get a picture of dragonflies, a polar bear and a tiger and make into a jigsaw; hiding the pieces around out garden for them to find; although the way our weather is at the moment that could be some time away! There S A Tiger In The Garden written by Lizzy Stewart and has been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018 with Juvenile Fiction categories.LIZZY STEWART has been a freelance illustrator since graduation from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009. In 2013 she completed an MA in Communication Design at Central St Martins. She was selected as one of It’s Nice That’s Graduates 2009 and was nominated for a British Comic Book Award in 2013. Her inspirations include folk culture, flora and fauna and life in far-flung cities and a compulsive need to tell stories. Lizzy lives in London, where she teaches on behalf of the National Portrait Gallery. Imagination is at the heart of this book and, in my experience, year two children ably entertain two understandings of its content, one in which they interpret the tiger as real, and another in which he is a product of Nora's (and grandma's) imagination; visual clues as to the origin of the more exotic characters abound in the illustrations and suggest the tiger is in fact grandma's ginger cat and the polar bear a soft toy, while, inevitably, the carnivorous plants are innocuous bushes. The book encourages children to use their powers of observation and imagination, and they readily engage with the story and its message. Research the animals in the book. Look at their habitat, food they eat. In a class situation, each child finds one interesting fact they did not know before to share with the class.
