When Gordon looks up at the crumbling bridge, a steam effect appears in the bottom right corner for a split second. Genki Girl: Rebecca, who is eager to do a good job. So much so that she arrives too early for her passengers. Some recurring engines, like Diesel, only appeared in a handful of stories from The Railway Series, but were given bigger roles in the show.

Thomas promises Annie and Clarabel a scenic route for one of the last tours of the summer season, but a power outage across the entire Island of Sodor causes problems for the three and their passengers. With help from Percy and Kana, the engines learn that what connects all of them isn't just electricity.

Further supporting characters from The Railway Series have never been introduced due to the transition to mostly original material after Series 4. That is, until Season 20 where the Arlesdale Railway is introduced, and three stories in the Small Railway Engines book are adapted! Thomas & Friends, formerly known as Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, is a British TV series first broadcast in 1984 and concluding in 2021. It began life as The Railway Series, a series of picture books about a group of talking steam engines living on the otherwise relatively-realistic Island of Sodor and the adventures they have under the guardianship of the railway supervisor Fat Controller (Sir Topham Hatt). The books were originally written by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, an English clergyman and railway enthusiast, from the 1940s to the early 1970s; his son Christopher later took on the job from the 1980s until his retirement in 2011. There is also a widely-available series of books based on TV episodes.

On a positive note, "Henry's Forest" handled the Green Aesop pretty well.
