About this deal

Most other specialties use the MSRA as part of your overall score and combine the MSRA with interviews. If you're applying for CT1 anaesthetics for example your MSRA score contributes 15% of your overall rank. The Professional Dilemmas section is limited to 95 minutes and is a ranking test, consisting of 50 scenarios. For each situation presented, the candidate will have to rate the appropriateness of 4-5 independent actions (from 1=most to 5=least appropriate). Every time you answer a question in the Medibuddy MSRA question bank you will be shown if your answer is correct or incorrect, with a detailed explanation, which is a really useful tool for your revision. The question bank is adaptive, which means you get a personalised learning experience, so every question you answer has been selected specifically for you to improve your score.

On the day you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and bring one form of valid government issued identification, e.g. passport or driving license. Exam structure Pastest offers an online revision resource that cover all aspects of the test. Here, we'll explore how Pastest can help MSRA candidates achieve success on the exam: Comprehensive Content Although the scenarios are relevant to foundation level clinical practice (FY2), it does not aim to simply assess your recall of knowledge, but focuses on your ability to synthesise and apply your medical knowledge appropriately. Format of the Clinical Problem Solving Paper The PD paper is split into two sections with about half the questions in section one, and half are in section two but section one carries the bulk of the marks as we'll see in a moment when we look at the scoring. Assesses your ability to apply clinical knowledge to help make clinical decisions – it is not a test of pure knowledge. The MSRA dates for 2024 are scheduled from Thursday, January 4th to Tuesday, January 16th 2024 and for Round 2 from the 2nd to 9th September 2024. The assessment itself is free of charge, but please note that any travel and accommodation expenses incurred will be your own responsibility and will not be reimbursed. We strongly recommend that you book your assessment as early as possible to secure a spot at the test center nearest to you and avoid any potential inconvenience or delays. How long is MSRA exam valid for? The Professional Dilemmas Paper is a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) designed to assess your response to situations involving challenging professional dilemmas. Emergency: Potential serious illness requiring an immediate response (recognising patient risk based on suggested factors).

You can resit MSRA within the same recruitment year if you are unsuccessful in an attempt. All applicants who have been assessed as demonstrating evidence of eligibility will be invited to sit the MSRA. If you are invited, you must book an appointment and undertake the MSRA. If you do not book an appointment in time, your application will not progress and you will need to re-apply for a subsequent round. The MSRA exam is a mandatory part of the application for ophthalmology specialist training in the UK. It is a computer-based exam which is designed to assess junior doctors with foundation level competence. It is used for entry to postgraduate training in ophthalmology as well as a number of other different specialities (for example, radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology). The Clinical Problem Solving paper is timed, and candidates have 75 minutes to complete it. Although there is no negative marking, candidates are advised to answer all questions to maximize their chances of obtaining a high score. The main problem with the PD paper is time. With 50 scenarios and 95 minutes you get around 1 minute 48 seconds per question. However as the scenarios require some thought it can be easy to spend too long on some questions and run out of time. The key here is practice and to understand the scoring as we'll see in a second.
