About this deal

GCLC is the first rate-limiting step to produce glutathione. This enzyme catalyzes the reaction that combines glutamate and cysteine to produce gamma-glutamyl-cysteine. The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) will only recommend something if there is good evidence that it benefits autistic people. As good news, constipation is a thing of the past! I can tell this protocol has been great for keeping things moving, which goes a long way to avoiding the toxin buildup that I struggled with before.

So what he is saying is that you can add to your diet, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Omega 3 and Prebiotic - all of these things are natural. EVOO is medically proven to lower inflammation and good for general health, Omega 3 is proven for brain health and is naturally occuring in salmon - i do not like fish but I take Omega 3 to help my brain and prebiotics which is made from chicory. He is not asking you to take any of these things over the normal RDA. Dr. Nemechek believes that the symptoms of disease can be eliminated by restoring equilibrium in the body. California Olive Ranch is the brand Dr. Nemechek approves, and the one that I use, although there are others approved by COOC. It’s all just been a little (ok, a lot!) overwhelming. I went from being what I thought was “healthy” to being diagnosed with 7 chronic conditions within a year following my Lyme disease diagnosis. I completely understand your frustration! While one gene variant was focused on in this discussion, this method must be applied to a wide variety of an individual’s contributing genetic variants simultaneously to ensure maximal success. The cases presented here demonstrated this idea. The need for this multi-pronged approach relates to the etiology of ASD. Autism, like most chronic illnesses, is generally due to the interactions of multiple gene products, the individual’s environment, lifestyle, and the interrelationships between these factors, rather than being monogenic in cause.

How It Works

I just found Dr. Nemechek and his protocol about a month ago. I’ve been on the protocol about 2 weeks, so I don’t have a ton of experience with it yet, but I’m documenting everything. I will say that the inulin tends to cause symptoms to flare in the beginning, but it doesn’t last long. Around Day 5 of taking the antibiotics for SIBO, I noticed a significant decrease in bloating. Now, I’m about 3 weeks post-Rifaximin, and I have little to no bloating anymore.

I am not a fan, however, of its claim that it can “reverse autism.” Its recommendations do not appear to stem from evidence-based science, relying on what seem to be anecdotes to make its case. I’m all for giving our kiddos supplements, but you don’t need to buy a book to do that. If you suffer from unexplained bloating that you can’t seem to get rid of, it may be a hidden case of SIBO. I went from chronically bloated (like 7-months pregnant bloated…) to flat tummy in less than 2 months by simply following Dr. Nemechek’s advice. Keep reading to learn more! So far, I can tell you that my bloating and gas flared up the first 2 days after taking inulin. I didn’t react at all to the oils. It’s organic and sourced from blue agave with no fillers or preservatives. I just mix it in about a cup of water and drink it, but you can also add it to applesauce, oatmeal, yogurt, whatever.I’m not going to dig too deep into what SIBO is because if you’re reading this, you probably already know. In building the CDS, the gene function for each gene was researched, along with how the variant associated with ASD in the literature was thought to affect the gene function. Then, a deeper literature search was conducted, again using the various resources mentioned above, to gain a molecular understanding of these pathways. In the case of SHANK3, as with many SNPs, the functional consequences of the SNP on gene function were not easily identified. W.L. was consulted to identify these various targets and methods to modulate the pathway. Dr. LaValley is a physician and molecular biologist who utilizes evidence-based molecularly targeted natural product supplements and re-purposed pharmaceuticals for molecular integrative medicine treatment of patients with complex chronic diseases. The research team then integrated this information into the genomic CDS for accessibility by the clinicians.

Precision medicine tools open the horizon to targeting an individual’s molecular vulnerabilities. This allows for the utilization of targeted interventions of natural products or repurposed pharmaceuticals as personalized interventions. This strategy is commonly used in cancer drug design. While this article focuses on the benefits of genomic medicine for ASD, the same rationale and approach can be applied across the board to chronic illnesses. The underlying principle of this approach is that interventions are targeted to underlying genomic and molecular pathways rather than a diagnosis. The answer to this question will be different for everybody, but as Dr. Nemechek says, the process usually requires a little patience.

I usually belong to the camp that believes “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” But when I read Dr. Nemechek’s research and ideas behind the protocol for SIBO, it made total sense. That’s one of the reasons I started this blog. To connect with others in the same boat and become a resource of information for them and hopefully point people in the right direction of feeling better! This strategy can transform the practice of medicine and the treatment of chronic disease. Case study evidence provides significant support for this approach for individuals with ASD and cognitive decline [ 2, 3]. This personalized approach can be applied to any number of chronic diseases and empowers both the clinicians and the patients, helping the patient feel confident that the clinician’s conclusions are relevant. A genomically targeted approach has been made possible, due to advancements in our understanding of molecular science and improvements in technology that have made genetic testing more affordable and available. These technological and scientific advances have allowed for a tool, such as the CDS presented here, to be developed to manage and support clinical decisions. It’s all a guessing game, but I suspect some sort of food poisoning with that salad ( I’m looking at you, romaine!). The maximum inulin dose for adults in 2 teaspoons, but you need to work up to that, and many people don’t need that much. When it comes to inulin, it’s sort of a “watch and see” approach because everyone’s gut conditions are unique.
