We loved the TOPWIND 1 tent from the word go, their simple but effective, straight-forward design and high quality materials immediately made them a winner for us. However, the PYRAMID tent, with its lowly weight and versatility is fast growing on us! We supply this tent either with the very nice V-section aluminium tent pegs or our own Superlite titanium hook tent pegs. The aluminium V-pegs weigh 10 grams each, as opposed to the titanium tent pegs which weigh just 5 grams each. Hence, as this tent comes with 16 tent pegs, the titanium tent peg option provides an additional weight-saving of 80 grams, bringing the total weight down to just 1.16 kg (2.55lbs). An obvious benefit of a pyramid tent is that it only requires one pole. A further design feature of my tents is the simple loadbearing apex hem. This easily allows any bush pole to be used as the pole and because it can protrude through the hem that will close tightly around the pole, it does not need precision trimming to a particular length. Even better the tent can be suspended by the hem drawcord from a suitable overhanging branch to provide pole-less convenience and flexibility. A bush pole can support a pyramid tent via the drawcord in a loadbearing apex hem. If the suspension cord is run over a fork in the branch above the tent apex, the tent canopy tension can be adjusted from inside the tent during wet weather when silnylon fabric stretches considerably. A pyramid tent that is designed to be suspended from an overhanging snow gum, so that the snowpit can be excavated without the need to have a tent pole in the pit. A small tent stove is mounted up above the side of the snow pit. Ultralight pole They have good head space and big floor areas, so it all depends on how many people will be sleeping in the tent. Ventilation It also means the formation of the tent wall seams is just a continuation of the pyramid canopy lay flat seams (see photo above). It also means that the stretch of each wall and skirt section is compatible with the associated tent panel above it. This equal stretching contributes to a better tent pitch. A breathing polyester tent seam is prepared for sewing a lay-flat seam that connects the one-piece tent panels. The panel incorporate the main pyramid surface, the bell wall and the snow/bug skirt. Low profile spring clamps and plastic pads have been used to hold the lay flat seam glueing points together in preparation for the first row of stitches to make the sewing easy. NOTE: Use a small bungee loop on any center panel tie-outs to limit wind force on that tie-outs. DO NOT stake out a center side panel tie-outs too much – it should only move the wall a couple of inches out at most! DO NOT pull it so far it changes the shape of the mid-wall.

Reducing our carbon footprint
As already mentioned, every tent will suffer from condensation in certain conditions and generally to a certain degree, this is simply a fact of life, but as long as it runs down the inside of the outer flysheet rather than dripping onto the inner tent, then all is fine. And this is where the pyramidal shape of the PYRAMID tent works extremely well. Condensation only becomes an issue if it drips onto or down the inner tent. To date we have suffered no really serious condensation issues with either tent.
