About this deal

SodaStreams are fun for the whole family. You’ll find all your fizzy favourites in syrups for SodaStreams, like 7Up and Pepsi, and each 440ml bottle of SodaStream concentrate can make a whopping nine litres of flavoured drink, which should save you on lots of trips to the shops! As well as canned classics, you can get creative with SodaStream cordials, too, and make your own kombucha - there’s even a passionfruit and mandarin kombucha SodaStream cordial that not only tastes great, but that also contains a billion live probiotics per serving. That’s a lot of gut-friendly bacteria. Mix things up The mix includes zero-calorie Splenda (sucralose), and sugar, and it delivers 8 grams of sugar per 8-ounce serving. Compare that to Coke, which has 27 grams of sugar. And if you break it down by calories per serving, SodaStream looks good with 35 calories versus nearly 100 calories for a Coke. First, here are some of my own homemade favorite infusions and fruit-based recipes that you’ll love! SodaStream Infusions & Fruit Juice REcipe Ideas 1. Infused Cucumber & Mint It gets a little drippy and splattery. You could, if you had extra sink space or a utility sink in a different room, just drape this nozzle over the side of a sink. Since I didn’t want this big ol’ cardboard box taking up precious space next to my kitchen sink, this plastic bin setup was a nice compromise.

This date is apparently 75 days after the syrup was manufactured. As you can see, we’re now past April 2, 2018 … and we aren’t even half-done with the bag of syrup. I’m glad we got the 2.5-gallon size! I’m comfortable going beyond this date—it’s like so many things with a “best by” date; there isn’t anything wrong with the product beyond that date, but they want you to buy more, y’know? While it doesn’t contain high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), and there is a line of "naturally sweetened" flavors with no sucralose, in the end you’re still drinking sugar water. “When we are looking at the health impact on your body, does it matter is you drink a beverage that contains sugar that’s 55 percent fructose, like HFCS, or 50 percent fructose—like table sugar?” says Roussell. The Bottom Line Making soda with a SodaStream device and drinking it is considered to be a healthier alternative than drinking traditional sodas, such as Coca-Cola. Since it takes 1 gallon of Coca-Cola syrup to make 6 gallons of soda, this would mean that it takes about .17 gallons to make 1 gallon of soda from Coca-Cola syrup.

SodaStream Infusions & Fruit Juice REcipe Ideas

For this reason, many people will either prefer Coca-Cola, or their soda made from a SodaStream. Some people would much rather have a higher level of fizziness in their soda, whereas others much rather prefer there to not contain as much carbonation. The SodaStream syrups are far, far more concentrated, so you don’t need much to flavor a liter of pop. You use the syrup bottle’s cap to measure out — it has marks along it for a half-liter, a “lightly sweetened” full liter, and a full-flavor full liter. But due to the overwhelming sweetness of Splenda, I ended up using a little bit less than the “Lightly Sweetened” mark. It ends up being just less than a full shot glass of syrup. A simple squeeze of grapefruit and blood orange is a great way to flavor your SodaStream. 6. Lime & Raspberry We buy Pom from Costco and use just a couple tablespoons and a squeeze of lemon for a delicious drink! 3. Strawberry & Mint

This SodaStream recipe is both fresh and tropical tasting. It makes a great mixer with rum as well! You can also make a syrup using the syrup and a can of pineapple and letting it soak with mint. You only need a bit for a great homemade SodaStream syrup. 10. Blueberry & SageMuddled raspberries in a glass, plus a squeeze of orange. Add carbonated water for a simple soda that tastes great. This can also be an infusion flavor if you let the raspberry and orange slices sit in water for 10-12 hours, then filter before carbonating. 12. Peach Thyme A big part of this is the level of carbonation that is used to make soda from SodaStreams, which is much less in comparison to the level of fizziness found in a Coca-Cola can. Boil freshly 1/2 of fresh ground ginger for 20 minutes in 1 cup of water, and then strain. Add the ginger to your carbonated water with a squeeze of lemon. 5. Grapefruit & Blood Orange And yes, we’re putting the syrup in a condiment squeeze bottle! I believe this is a 16-ounce condiment bottle. The hole in the top is nice and small, which allows you to do a very slow pour of the syrup into the fizzy water. I don’t know what it is about Diet Coke chemically that makes it go fizzy crazy, but you gotta go slow with the syrup into the water, or you’ll have foam all over the place. Ask me how I know. (I’m sure it’s the same chemical property that makes a geyser of foam when you drop Mentos candies in there.)

So here you can see a finished bottle of fresh Diet Coke, how much fuller it is than the plain water at the fill line, and how much syrup was used.

SodaStream syrups & carbonators

dip into the water and the bottle will vanish from deem a seal is formed. Next, you carbonate your water Let’s get to making! Coke syrups aren’t as concentrated as the SodaStream syrups; it takes more syrup to fully flavor a liter of pop. Most folks say it’s a 5-to-1 ratio of water to syrup, but we did some weighing, calculating, long division, and experimenting to figure out what tasted right to us. I think it’s a bit less syrup than a full 5-to-1.

I tend to drink a lot of fizzy water—I don’t care for still water in general, so a little bit of bubble makes it easier for me to stay hydrated. I usually squeeze in a little lemon or lime, and I’m a happy camper. So it’s worth having the SodaStream for that alone. But I also like me some Diet Coke! This may sound familiar, mixing syrup with carbonated water, because it’s exactly the same process as mixing Sodastream’s carbonated water with SodaSteam’s sparkling water flavours (which are syrups). Because more syrup means diluting the carbonated water more, we’re doing more carbonation than we would with the regular SodaStream syrups. Some SodaStream machines make a series of “buzzing” noises, while others make what they call a “puff” noise — whichever type of machine you have, you know it when you hear it. They recommend between one and three of those noises for their syrups; with the Diet Coke syrup, we’ve settled on six noises. We tried eight, but that was overwhelmingly fizzy. There are different options next depending on how you want to dispense the syrup. I personally attached a tap to the end of the connector so I can periodically fill up a smaller and easier to manage dispenser. Many users online have stated that they have made soda with SodaStream Cola syrup that tastes almost identical to a real Coca-Cola soda. We decided to run a few things by someone who wasn’t Scarlett Johansson and actually knows a few things about health: Mike Roussell, Ph.D., a nutrition consultant and author of the Men’s Health’s The MetaShred Diet. From fizzy water to the classic flavour of cola, you can have lots of fizzy fun with a SodaStream machine. The brand has been helping people carbonate water in the comfort of their own homes for more than 100 years - just attach the carbonating cylinder to the machine, fill a SodaStream bottle with water, slot it into place and hold down the button on top for a couple of seconds to let the fizz flow. Press the button several times to increase the carbonation until you achieve your desired result, et voila: your own alternative to shop-bought sparkling water. Get creative seductively sipped a glass of bubbly SodaStream from a straw, called out Coke and Pepsi by name, and implied that SodaStream was healthier for you than colas from those companies.
