I did not do detailed CRI, CCT, or DUV testing because this light is about maximum output, not pretty color properties.
Warning: This flashlight is recommended for adult use or under adult supervision. Keep out of reach of children!As stated above, they’re in a parallel configuration. That means the driver is expecting 4.2V maximum. Parallel means that the voltage input is the same voltage as one cell (4.2V max) but the capacity adds together from the for cells. The included cells are 5000mAh, so when full, the “battery” (cell holder) is really a 15,000mAh battery. Disclaimer: All of my measurements are taken at turn-on. Lumen measurements were taken on a Texas Ace 3.5″ Lumen Tube. A candela measurement was taken at 10 meters with an Opple Light Master III on the highest brightness, and other candela figures were calculated relative to that. CRI, CCT, & DUV data was taken for each mode from a few feet away at the center of the hotspot with the Opple Light Master and Waveform DUV Calculator. Runtime tests were performed with the Ceilingbounce app on my smartphone. All of these tests were performed with fully charged included batteries unless otherwise specified. I cannot measure moonlight directly, so moonlight readings are calculated based on the brightness relative to the next-lowest mode. None of this is professional equipment, so take all of these measurements with a grain of salt. The Q8 driver easily powers four emitters of any kind, in fact it easily powers 17 emitters in my Ham’r build. No need for three FET’s or 3 pairs of wires. I have a spare Q8 driver even now. Have used them in BLF GT’s to drive the SBT90.2.
First, the table for Either User Interface. These actions work whether you’re in Simple or Advanced UI. State The Sofirn Q8 Plus flashlight is powered by 3 x 21700 Li-Ion batteries. The battery indicator lets you know when the battery is low, charging, or fully charged. This flashlight can charge the battery with an integrated charger, and it works with a USB power source. This flashlight has a built-in low voltage protection (LVP) to prevent damage to the cell from over-discharge, so protected cells are not necessary.The built-in thermal control automatically adjusts brightness output to prevent overheating. The "6" in the IP68 rating represents the level of protection against solid objects, specifically dust and foreign particles. It indicates that the Q8 Plus flashlight, is fully protected against the entry of dust and other solid objects. The "8" in the IP68 rating indicates the highest level of protection against water ingress. You may have read into what I wrote above and already considered this, but one cell will also work just fine in the Q8 Plus (as seen above)! You’ll be driving a single cell quite hard doing this, and maybe I’d recommend avoiding Turbo, but the light will certainly work absolutely fine on lower modes this way. (Any number of cells will work fine, too!) There are two versions of the Sofirn Q8 Plus flashlight, but they differ only in emitter temperature. There are 6500K (seen here) and 5000K. Either can be had with or without cells. Price I will say that compared to the Sofirn Q8 Pro (which I reviewed a year ago yesterday!), the build quality of this Sofirn Q8 Plus is much better. That’s not to say the Q8 Pro is bad (it’s not!) but the edges on this Plus version seem to wear better.
The Q8 Plus flashlight with 24000 lm is an extremely high lumen output and offers an incredibly bright and powerful beam of light. 76729 cd represents an extremely high level of brightness for a flashlight. The throw is the calculated distance in meters at which the flashlight produces a light intensity of 0.25 lux. The cd/lm factor (candela-to-lumen ratio) provides information about how concentrated or focused the light output of a light source is. A higher cd/lm ratio indicates that the light is more concentrated in a specific direction, while a lower ratio indicates a more diffused or spread-out light output. Software Firmware The entire light is built differently, no idea why it’s called a Q8 at all as it’s different in virtually every way. The Sofirn Q8 Pro is not for the small handed. I am 6’2” and 215 pounds (Thanks holiday food!) and it fits well in my hands, but dwarfs the hands of my children. That being said, in my hands, it feels quite good. The knurling gives quite a lot of grip so I had no fear of it falling (again), even though it is very smooth. I am putting this in a table here with ToyKeeper’s permission. Thanks, TK! This is so much better than me writing it because it’s more reliable, and I completely trust its accuracy (at least, if I can paste accurately). I’m breaking it up a little differently than ToyKeeper did, though I certainly understand why it was done her way originally.Here are a couple of charge graphs. I tested with USB to USB-C (as intended by Sofirn based on the cable they included.) I also tested with USB-C to USB-C, and that works a bit better I think. The light ships with Andúril2! I love it, I think it’s an improvement over the first iteration(s). There are some things some users might not love about it, but I think overall it’s much more approachable. I will note though that the nomenclature might be a bit confusing – the light (all lights with Andúril2) ships in Simple UI. This is not Muggle Mode. You may think “well duh” and by now you’ve already seen the blistering runtime on turbo of Simple, so you get it. But just be aware, don’t hand this light to the uninitiated thinking they won’t set their hand on fire while using Simple UI. Here is where I’d tell you how to switch to muggle mode. There is no muggle mode.
