About this deal

What is being used to detect you? Keep in mind, not all IR is thermal based. Night Vision also utilizes part of the IR spectrum to enhance images by combining it with the part of the spectrum we can see, but it does not include the thermal information. Thermal detection produces a different set of information based on temperature differences. Even if you could completely conceal yourself from thermal imaging detection, you may still be plainly visible to simple night vision. That is open ground in Afcrapistan. Imagine if you were operating in an area with greater tree cover, how that would add another layer to help you. That goes to terrain masking. The poncho also features a quarter-zip zipper to aid in ventilation, as well as getting this over your head if needed. All hydrophobic down treatments wash out over time, and washing is hard on all down. Extend the life of your bag by spot cleaning with a damp sponge, and only machine washing when necessary. BTW, to avoid Thermal detection, get the insulated version. Yes, it's heavier, but the non insulated version is not enough to hide you (the fabric will have a temperature between your outter clothes temperature and outside temperature, so you will get spotted).

Insulation: Climashield Apex 67 g/m 2 and 100 g/m 2 insulation. This is some of the best insulation there is a fantastic weight-to-insulation ratio and great performance even in wet conditions. Apex is a continuous fiber filament, this means it does not need any attaching stitching as you would find on common polyester or down loft garments. By eliminating these stitches we also eliminate possible cold spots, further adding to the insulating properties of the garment. I think the most popular, and honestly, the most valid question you may be asking yourself.. How much am I realistically going to use a down poncho? Here's a "small" list of things that you can do with your poncho besides from keeping you dry: Waterproof Shelter That is why in Patriot Dawn: The Resistance Rises I make such a point of using terrain masking, vegetation and constructed cover (cam nets and false roofs etc) and also in some of the battles the Resistance uses thermal smoke from tire fires to mask action on the ground from overhead drones. If you use terrain masking along with being under some vegetation and you get under a properly put together ‘thermal poncho’ strung up above you then you will make it very hard for surveillance to spot you. Particularly if they are expecting to look for human shapes. Then it comes down to how long they concentrate on an area and if they discern heat either leaking out or warming up your poncho because you have it too close to your body.

Use Nikwax ®Down Proof ™to restore your down's hydrophobic properties. Specially formulated to renew the Nikwax Hydrophobic Down treatment, it can also be used to provide improved water-resistance to any down bag. Follow directions on the bottle. Ostin itse 67g climashield -eristeisen version. Monikäyttöisyyden vuoksi sopii myös untuvapussi + laavukangas -combossa majoittuvalle grammanviilaajalle. Eipähän näet tarvitse erikseen kantaa kuoripussia ja taukovaatetta mukana reissuilla. The ONLY thing that makes me not buy it right now, is that the arms zip the Jerven Fjellduken have are missing. When moving plan routes around terrain / vegetation masking. Have frequent listening/observation halts. Poncho liner (known in the military as the woobie) is a piece of fabric that goes underneath your poncho to make it warmer.Hello and welcome to my review of the Therm-a-Rest Honcho Poncho Down! If you’re anything like me, finding the perfect piece of gear to keep you warm and comfortable in the great outdoors can be a daunting task. Thankfully, the Honcho Poncho Down may just be the answer to all of your camping and base camp needs. The outside fabric, and its NIR property is outstanding, and fabric toughness is at the same level than the Jerven one. When it's time to go to bed, simply undo the poppers on each side and use it as an extra layer of warmth over your sleeping bag! Of course, it's a weak point, they are cold spots even when the bag is closed (because no insulation over them) but the possibility to get your arms out while the bag is closed is very interesting.

Modern military ponchos are lighter - still nylon, but it is not rubberized. You'll want to get yourself one of these. Another suggestion that may sound silly is to hide in plain sight. Use IR stobes, military gear… try to appear as if you are a friendly force. Most operators do not have direct comms to those they support on the ground and you may be mistaken as friendly. Warmth comes at a premium these days, and when looking at a premium brand such as Therm-a-rest, you can expect to pay a premium price. The wet suit or dry suit made of neoprene did a very exceptional job of hiding the heat signature of a human body.

When living on the road it can sometimes be hard to find a level of comfort and warmth without layering up or just crawling into my sleeping bag, but this is where the poncho shines. It’s loose-fitting enough to lounge around in and provides enough warmth to fend off your sleeping bag until it’s time to go to bed. One of my friend bought the insulated version and having seen it, I have to say that Varusteleka did an amazing job with their version of the classic Jerven Fjellduken.Don’t go for a poncho that’ll break on you after 2 weeks of use. 3.
