In saying this, the crucial components, like the burrs and hand crank, are made of stainless steel. The hand grinder has been carefully designed to ensure the burrs are stable and produce a consistent grind size. The handle spins smoothly, being mounted on dual bearings. But if you’re new to hand grinding and just want something to make your morning pour over extra special, the Timemore Chestnut C2 is a great choice. Timemore C2 Burrs For that price, the C2 is an impressive hand grinder. However, the S2C burr on the C3 is more valuable than its price tag suggests. You get a much more powerful and capable grinder for a small price increase (that still punches above its weight).
The Timemore Chestnut C2 is pleasant to use, but grinding two full grounds cups’ worth daily, or multiple times a day, could get old fast. Conical burrs, like those on the C2, are often considered more efficient and better grind consistency — and easier to clean. Steel burrs are also sharper than ceramic burrs until they age. However, if you want something suitable for espresso or you’re the kind of person who only wants the best of the best, there are still a few other grinders out there that are better.Timemore C2 is a cheap grinder, so the company had to make a few compromises on the way – this being the most noticeable. Also, remember that the much more expensive Comandante has some plastic internally.
EASY TO GRIP & GRIND - The unique anti-slip textured makes this manual burr coffee grinder easier to hold; it is also smooth to handle and grind thanks to the smooth bearings and slim-52mm-diameter body. The burrs and most internal mechanics are stainless steel as well. There are some plastic components inside, which detracts from build quality a tad. But the plastic is heavy-duty and only used on parts that see little wear. As a positive trade-off, using plastic where possible makes the grinder lighter and more affordable. On coarser settings for French press or the 4:6 method, you can almost achieve 1 gram per second, which is outrageous. On finer settings, you’re closer to 0,7-0,5 gram per second, which is still very, very acceptable. Timemore Chestnut C2 Hand Grinder Features
Since its initial release, the Timemore Chestnut C2 manual coffee grinder is no longer one of the cheapest, with some premium ones available for just 1/6th of its cost. However, it is by far nowhere close to being one of the most expensive burr grinders, with many more expensive burr grinders offered at thrice its cost. You’re still getting a good deal for your money here as the Timemore C2 is considered an excellent coffee grinder with its adjustable settings, intricate handy exterior, and grind quality. This is a far better value than other coffee grinders in the same price range, with no manually adjustable settings and cheaper builds. I have no qualms declaring that, together with 1Zpresso Jx, this is one of the fastest hand grinders on the market. Despite its more modest appearance, it’s a lot faster than Lido 3 and the Comandante. Consistent enough
There is one significant difference between the base C2 and the C2 Pro: the adjustment dial. The base C2 has a plastic dial for adjusting the grind size, while the C2 Pro has an aluminum one. You’ll be changing grind settings a lot since these are best used as all-purpose grinders. That makes the adjustment dial one of the most important parts of this grinder, and you’re better off going with an aluminum dial. Really, the C2 is a no-fuss piece, which is why it’s an excellent choice for a first coffee mill. DisadvantagesSo we were pleased to find that consistency was one of the best aspects of the new burr set in the Timemore C3. In tests, it outperformed the Timemore Slim Plus, which uses the same burrs found in the C2. What about espresso? Released following the original Chestnut C2, theC2 Max boasts all interior stainless steel parts, including the grind adjustment wheel – as well as an increased capacity of 30-35g due to its larger body.
