I don't think the official instructions specifically mention anything about your question, but I haven't looked at them since I wrote the review. Therefore I would say that it comes down to house rules where the players have to agree on how it should be treated. If two teams shout the answer at the same time, another card is taken and the CONTROL entry is described. SPIN SEGMENTSAll the fun of Articulate in a mini game! The MiniGame is a miniature 'taster' version of the complete board game, with customised rules and enough cards to keep everyone entertained when they get together. Instead, the DESCRIBERS who have just been describing, take another card and describe the entry marked with a CONTROL to EVERYBODY playing. Describers must be careful not to break any of the description rules (see below). If they break one of these rules they forfeit the turn. Finish With the game allowing you to mime, at the very least I think you could at least pretend to draw the word as that is a form of miming. You definitely wouldn't be able to spell out the word by miming out the letters. Whether you can actually use a pencil/pen and paper to actually draw the object where your teammates can see it drawn out becomes the question. In this regard I can see both sides. Ultimately your group will have to decide whether it should be allowed or not.

To begin each team’s turn they will choose which players will be the Describers and Guessers. These roles should alternate so all of the players will play as both roles. You can play it over and over without changing the cards as there are so many options (and everyone describes them very differently!). This has brought us many hilarious moments (and a few little disagreements) and I have been trying to get my friends into playing it too! I have never seen a room of people so still and focussed as when trying to concentrate on an 'all' description. Unfold the board and put the arrow spinner in the centre hole. Players divide into teams of two or more. The more players per team the better. If for example there are eight players two teams of four is better than four teams of two. Each team select one playing piece and put it on the start segment. By common consent decide which team will start. The red team correctly guessed three cards during the round. Because of this they were able to move their pawn forward three spaces. Control RoundEach turn team members are nominated DESCRIBERS and GUESSERS. All players MUST take their turn at being describers. No matter how big the team, there are never more than two describers. The red team has reached the finish space. If they are able to win the Control round they will win the game. Is this allowed? The rules are not clear on this. Some friends of mine think this is not permitted....However, I note that one can mime or use other gestures. If this is so I cannot see why a drawing should not be allowed. If you can’t agree, we suggest using one of the online cards from ‘ Articulate Phrases’ as a tie-breaker.

There is NO TIME LIMIT. The team which shouts the answer first get the next turn. If the same team has a second turn, their next describers take their turn. After the CONTROL winners' turn, play passes on to the next team as if that had been their normal turn. The green team is on a Control space. Based on the card that they drew, they will have to describe Little Red Riding Hood. So I will admit that I had some mixed feelings about Articulate!. As a fan of party games there were a lot of things that I liked. Unfortunately the game kind of fails to distinguish itself. A revelation for family gatherings. Great fun for all ages. I mean, seriously great fun. Has to be one of the best board games we've bought."
