Goyer signed on to write the script two months later. Nolan said that humanity and realism would be the basis of the origin film, and that "the world of Batman is that of grounded reality. [5] Also similar to Superman, Nolan wanted an all-star supporting cast for Batman Begins to lend a more epic feel and credibility to the story. [6] Of course, Bruce Wayne also has the luxury of inheriting a hugely successful business and the riches that come from that. Likewise, our real life Batman would need some way of earning a living that wouldn’t take eight hours out of their day. Perhaps they would earn passive income from online endeavours then? Subsequently, he begins fighting crime in Gotham City as Batman, using advanced military-predicated technology in doing so and basing his persona on conquering his fear of bats, starting his path as a hero.

Let me preface this review with the fact that this is not a geeky treatise on all of Batman’s cool toys and tools of the trade. Instead, it’s a geeky treatise on the idea that Batman is one of the few superheroes who has trained to be a crime fighter, no otherworldly or radiation-granted powers. It’s a look at the physiology of what it would take to train to become as good as Batman. It’s a science book so if you’re looking for something else there are plenty of other books about that. If you have an interest in the human body and physiology (and a healthy interest in super heroes) you’ll enjoy this and Dr Zehr is the person to write this book. He is a professor of neuroscience and kinesiology as well as a martial artist and presumably a comic book fan. I got to meet the author briefly when he was the keynote speaker for the Human Anatomy & Physiology Society’s annual meeting this year. A common idea in the comics is that Bruce saw a Zorro film with his parents before they were murdered. Nolan explained that by ignoring that idea – which he stated is not found in Batman's first appearances – it emphasized the importance of bats to Bruce and that becoming a superhero is a wholly original idea on his part. It is for this reason Nolan believes other DC characters do not exist in the universe of his film; otherwise, Wayne's reasons for taking up costumed vigilantism would have been very different. I love seeing how far you can push your body and mind and topics like transhumanism and martial arts fascinate me. And you need to have been investing money and amassing a fortune the entire time, because the technology you'll need to even get close to a real-world version of Batman will cost millions of dollars. So you've done that, and now you start spending the money to get an armored suit full of electronics to communicate with assistants and have night vision and so on. You need a base of operations, so you buy one of those old used missile silos the military sells (yeah, they really do that, and it's pretty cool inside them) and turn it into a secret headquarters for the computers and monitoring equipment and car and bike and other equipment you need for your vigilante life.And there are actually people out there trying to become super heroes. The ‘Real Life Superheroes’ are a bunch of people who don costumes and patrol the streets looking for crime – no really! This story will be told in the upcoming Flash movie.
