Not at all! As long as you know the basics; how to warp and do plain weave, the entire technique is explained in detail. It’s actually quite an easy technique since there is no special threading involved. This book is immediately headed to my wishlist! I have been spinning and knitting for a couple of decades and have only recently begun weaving. My only regret is I didn’t start sooner. I’m always looking for a fibery adventure and the overshot technique is calling me. I am fairly new to weaving though I have been a knitter for most of my life. At the moment I am mostly doing plain weave, but anxious to try more advanced techniques. I am also a watercolor artist, so I really fascinated by color and the way different colors interact with each other. This book looks like a great way to learn more, advance my skills, and play with lots of color! Plus, if Kelly is recommending it, it MUST be good!As I started to say, putting it plainly, I would be crazy to pass up an opportunity working on developing dazzling overshot patterns as shown on the picture. They are stunning. I want to expand my understanding of all that the rigid heddle can do and continue in this art form for the art form and the place of meditation it affords me. I’m excited for this book as it would help me understand the technique better with the help of your videos also.

All you need is the basics, plus a good dose of patience and an adventurous attitude.

I am a relatively new weaver and have enrolled in your online school which was a gift from my husband. I have taken a few of the classes and am learning so much, thank you. Myra Wood is a well known fibre artist with an impressive array of artistic skills and talents. In fact, I’m quite amazed by all her achievements in teaching, writing books and creating. She is a huge inspiration!

I was so inspired by a class on Branoe weaving, a Russian variation, by Kelly Casanova. I started a deep dive into finding out as much as I could about it and came up sorely short of any more real instruction. There was very little information other than samples and basic history of supplementary-weft techniques from around the world. I have my first ever Rigid heddle loom (or any loom for that matter) coming in the mail! EEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!! And have absolutely zero experience. But that hasn’t stopped my in the past, I am known for diving off the deep end! When I learned crochet it wasn’t long before I started trying my hand at lace and my second knitting project was a basic sweater….. My crafty friends like to remind me I’m nuts hahahahaha! This technique looks like it’s in-keeping with my usual personality quirk but I also won’t end up drowning!!!! I love weaving on a variety of looms. But to explore all the possibilities of my rigid heddle looms is my favorite thing. Myra’s technique is absolutely fascinating! I would love to have this book and learn and dive into these colors and patterns.I tend to get fairly obsessive about one craft at a time. I’m passionate about learning as much as possible and experimenting with all the different ways I can express myself with it. or killed in any shape or form. For knitters and crocheters who are less familiar with weaving, what makes this method so appealing? Can I use my stash yarn?

In all honesty, your Branoe class blew me away. I kept thinking about Fair Isle and Mosaic knitting and other charted needlework while I was learning. I looked for more info on Branoe and found very little but I did discover a rich history of supplemental weft weaving from all different cultures throughout time. So I started experimenting and this book is the result of combining lots of different ideas from various charted needlework. Many times my books have come out of wanting to see the book I wish was already out there.“ With so many projects to learn, I think overshot was one that stood out the most to me. I have only just begun. I felt so much gratification at having the opportunity to weave overshot on a floor loom, that I would certainly wish to know how and to develop overshot skills on the rigid heddle loom.I am really interested in learning what actually can be done with a rigid heddle loom.
