This is literally the only product I use to refresh my hair. I smooth a little over my hair each day and typically get 4-5 days out of each wash. This is the only combo on the list that includes a serum ( Innersense, I Create Volume). It adds a nice touch to the wash and go. I create volume helps my set to dry faster. The natural botanical oils and ingredients in this gel moisturise hair also. This is the main reason why it feels heavy or weighs your hair down. So tip number one – don’t use too much! Bee Girl Curly Custard is the ONLY one product Wash and Go I have every successfully achieved. I don’t do it often, but in a pinch it is wonderful. It dries fast, has tons of definition and a firm hold. My stylist advised me not to use strong hold gels alone (on the regular). That is the only reason I don’t use this gel alone all the time. This advice is purely for coarse hair types like mine. If you have fine hair or looser texture like wavy hair then try styling on damp hair. Anyway. Flash drying is caused by humectants also. And this gel has a LOT of humectants. So apply on soaking wet hair. Or spray water after applying the gel just to make sure your hair has enough hydration. It is very important to remove old product build up from your hair and start with a clean slate. Oils, butters, grease, wax and silicone coat the hair shaft and must be completely washed out. Residue and/or product buildup may cause white film or flakes.Try using a little bit of curly girl approved oil in the palms of your hair such as Righteous roots oil or Biolage Replenish mist. A lot of creams contain ingredients like shea butter, which can weigh some hair types down. Always start with a small amount and add more as needed. For my fine density hair, I find that adding around two pea-sized pieces provides the right amount of moisture to my hair, without weighing it down. Less is more, especially when using heavier creams.

Does kinky curly custard make your hair hard? Sometimes products react with water (or other products) causing more drying. If hair dries out immediately after applying this gel it’s likely “flash drying”. It feels like hair is rejecting water becoming stiff and dry “in a flash”. Focus on moisturising and hydrating your hair before applying this gel. Do this by deep conditioning or using a generous amount of leavein conditioner before this gel. Drying your hair on a high heat could soften gel and can result in it breaking down your cast before it’s hardened. This is not tried and tested but cooler drying does seem to help 6.
