About this deal

Testing the Loxjie A30 put a smile on my face and landed it happily on my recommended list. You are getting restaurant quality meal at fast food prices. I'm building up a budget HiFi setup and I've spent a fair bit of effort trying to find the best budget integrated amps on the market right now. I was a complete noob one week ago and while this subreddit has been amazing, I'm still a bit lost in all the info. As far as I can tell, the main budget Chinese amps with competitive audiophile sound quality (for the price) are: Loxjie A30, Topping MX3, SMSL AD18, and SMSL SA300. EDIT: Actually in the dead silence of the night, if i concentrate, i can still hear the hiss from 1-2 meters away if the speaker is pointed right at my ear... but it's still a million times better than my rokit's.. and at least there's a mute button to fix it.. Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Eric Blaire aka George Orwell yes my soundcard has some slight hiss too, but there's no ground-loop going on as i have this isolator against that

I'm pretty new to passive speakers but wanted to give it a try as my rokit 6's had terrible hiss and trafo humm. (no, it was not a ground loop) I was always having an eye on the wharfedale (denton anniversary or diamond) speakers, but alledgedly they all sound really clean, so probably not a good match. the loxjie seems to have a bit more "warmth?" by which i mean higher output volume in the lower mids. The D30 is quite expensive, but from my understanding reading review it has superior sound quality, better than MX5 (?). My music source is an old Android (with buggy Bluetooth). It's running tidal as well as playing locally stored flacs, outputting with a hiby FC3 USB C to 3.5mm DAC. Build, Connectivity, and FeaturesLoxjie D30 is an all-metal, neat-looking device. It’s definitely not one of those small DACs that can fit in your palm, but it isn’t a particularly chunky one either. With its 269 x 233 mm footprint, I’d simply call it decently sized, yet still desktop friendly.

To suit your listening style and your audio system, the A30 offers no less than 7 preset equalizers as well as a customizable equalizer. The bass and treble levels can be adjusted in 1dB steps from -10dB to +10dB. Complete connection system The T8V is too large for my room (3,6x6m; 11,8x19,7ft). And T8V is more expensive with 160dollars than T7v (in pair).Current setup is (was) Mac Mini -> SMSL Q5 via USB -> Q Acoustics 2010i. I say was because the SMSL Q5 died after about 6 years of use, so currently in the market for a DAC + AMP. It's a modest desktop setup in a small room for casual listening. the loxjie might have like 5-10% less speaker hiss (absolutely unnoticeable), and the device itself is also very quiet so you can put it on your desk (this was unthinkable of with the da-9) Room: the left one will be with it's edge against the wall and 35 cm away from the corner. right speaker will only be 35 cm away from the wall with 2 screens in between.

I just received my Loxjie D30 DAC and cannot be more pleased. I was initially concerned that the ESS Sabre chip wouldn’t have as good as sound as my SMSL M200 with AKM-4497 chip. Boy was I wrong! The ES9068AS is Sabre’s only “Current” output chip. AKM 4499 implemented Current output in their chips, be we all know about the AKM shortage. The amplification circuit is based on an Infineon Merus MA12070 chip. This allows to develop a consequent power of 2x80W under 4Ω, while ensuring a very low distortion, an excellent efficiency and a complete protection system. Speakers can only play what the amplifier feeds it, so if they are of sufficient quality, and not so old that they have started to literally start to fail (crossover parts on the majority of consumer speakers have a built-in countdown timer as a consequence of costs saving, they use electrolytic capacitors instead of film capacitors which last longer and have a higher tolerance of variation than any electrolytic capacitor). Loxjie provided us with some basic information about the audio board of the device. The device is equipped with ESS Technology’s premium-tier DAC, ES9068AS. As for the HP amplifier stage, Loxjie used Texas Instrument’s OPA1612, which we often see in many different devices. These two main components are assisted by XMOS’ second-generation USB controller, 2 low-phase crystal oscillators, and Loxjie’s special low-noise power stage. The D30 supports PCM up to 32bit-784kHz and DSD up to DSD512 thanks to the second-gen XMOS USB controller. The ES9068AS DAC supports MQA natively and the unit runs driverless in MAC and Linux systems. For Windows, you’ll need this official driver to fully utilize the device. Do note that SMSL’s latest USB driver also works with the D30 and can be used without any issues. I only play (well mastered?) electronic music, so this is not a huge issue... But listening to old songs, for example Linkin Park, showed that these (class d?) amps are too analytic for "last gen" recordings. Even with the relatively inexpensive Topping E30, you should feel a big difference in sound quality from the built-in Realtek DAC.

considering that ... no idea ... their amp is rated for 73 watts, but my soundcard outputs some serious levels at max volume i think Since the sound is really clean and analytic, i need to find some nice warm sounding speakers to go with it, as clean sounding speakers with such a clean amp is probably too much. With the loxjie at 4 ohms and 100 dba i'd be running at 20 watts, with the distortion starting to rapidly rise at 40 watts. I'm thinking about pairing the D30 with something like the project amp box s2 (open to suggestions though). The main reason for doing this would be if it could offer me better audio, driving both (low budget) headphones and (sorta decent) bookshelf speakers. Long term higher upgrade potential is nice, but definitely not crucial for me. Am I better off getting a nice USB DAC and pairing it with a bare bones Class D AMP? Size is a bit of an issue since this is for my computer desk setup. The performance of desktop power amplifiers has been disappointing. Often the power is very low and distortion and noise quite high. Until now, I have not had any that I would recommend strongly. Well all that changed with the Loxjie A30. This is an attractive, solid performance with excellent measured and subjective sound quality. Inclusion of a USB DAC and Coax/Toslink input eliminates the need for a DAC for less clutter. It can easily replace a sound bar (using Toslink input from TV) and make for a great secondary system. 40 watts into 4 ohm with very low distortion and noise is plenty good for desktop use.
