The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Working in London now, he spends much of his time going to and from Oxford where he lives and continues to work on his writing to this day, as he builds up his extensive oeuvre of different franchises with their now much beloved protagonists.
