About this deal

Bill is probably best known for his work on two of the UK’s leading Soaps. He recently finished 3 years on Emmerdale, playing the well meaning but pretty hopeless farmer James Barton (Ross, Pete and Finn’s Dad) for over 300 episodes. Previously, he played the really rather nasty builder Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street, also for 3 years and 300 episodes, and for which he won a number of awards. At this point, the experienced crime fiction reader will spot a few plot flaws (which aren't resolved), and even readers new to the genre will not have too much difficulty figuring what is going on very early on in the book (the final twist is easy to guess, and isn't much of a twist). Nevertheless, having set up the plot, Peter James wisely switches most of the rest of the book to the police detectives involved in the case, and tells the story from their perspective. We discover more about Grace and his developing relationship with mortuary assistant Cleo, which is abruptly derailed by a reported sighting of Grace's wife, missing for nine years. Glenn Branson has marital problems so moves in with Grace, but is a slob; the repellently amusing Norman Potting has a welcome cameo, having apparently acquired a Thai bride over the Internet since the last book. The uneasy relationship of the police with the media and the public is woven into these stories and those of other police colleagues and investigations.

Shane with Jessie will star in a new BBC1 six-part drama series on screen early 2017 titled “Redwater” She recently played Kate Saunders in the four-part series The One, and bitchy Vanessa Jenkins in Rules of the Game.On the night that Brian Bishop murdered his wife he was sixty miles away, asleep in bed. Gemma is also a writer and performance poet. This year her debut play ‘The Jam Diaries’, an experimental spoken word piece looking at the concept of human connection in the modern world, enjoyed a hugely successful showing at Summerhall in Edinburgh. It is due to be further produced in 2017 with Thrive Theatre. Peter James announced in January 2022 that he has signed a new five-year deal with his publishers Pan has also been seen in shows such as Life on Mars, where he played time-travelling cop Sam Tyler, and the West End credits include MADDIE, LAUTREC, LA CAVA and the multi award winning stage version of THE LORD OF THE RINGS for which Shaun won a Dora Mavor Moore Award and was nominated for an Olivier Award. Edinburgh Festival hits include TERRY PRATCHETT’S ONLY YOU CAN SAVE MANKIND and MURDER MYSTERY MUSICAL. International theatre includes the HEIDI trilogy (Switzerland and Germany, Prix Walo nomination); LAST DANCE (Off Broadway) and BEN HUR LIVE (London and Rome). She’s very satisfied with her life as it is; she’s committed to her work and perfectly happy being single, but actually meeting Grace is like finding a kindred spirit. The hit drama follows Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in a series of stories adapted from bestselling author Peter James’ award winning novels.

On the night Brian Bishop murdered his wife, he was sixty miles away, asleep in bed at the time. At least, that’s the way it looks to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace who is called in to investigate the kinky slaying of beautiful young Brighton socialite, Katie Bishop. Soon, Grace starts coming to the conclusion that Bishop has performed the apparently impossible feat of being in two places at once. Has someone stolen his identity, or is he simply a very clever liar? As Grace digs deeper behind the facade of the Bishops’ outwardly respectable lives, it starts to become clear that all is not at all as it first seemed. And then he digs just a little too far, and suddenly the fragile stability of his own troubled, private world is facing destruction. ..
