About this deal

This book is an adventure, a memoir, a love story, and a coming-of-age book for baby boomers. On a whim, the authors move to Palm Beach for one year. What begins as a playful adventure turns into a life-changing event. This wise book shows it is not the stuff we have but how we live our life that is important. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. In the style of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence and Frances Mayes’ Under the Tuscan Sun, this book shows that sometimes a move to a new location can also mean a move to a new and better place in your life. This isn't thought provoking. It's a bland character study of someone with the conviction of a wet paper towel. It's not engaging or interesting to watch. It's predictable. She pretends she's great and then she pours a water bottle out on a shop counter because the worker politely asked her to obey a posted sign. She gets a man fired for insider trading and then she participates in insider trading and it's fine.

The beach itself is long and pretty, with a surf pool at the southern end. There are good facilities to change and have a rinse down after a swim And I just don't UNDERSTAND. What is the point?! This book was thought provoking, maybe, but only if "?????" constitutes a thought. I'm sure there are tons of subliminal messages to be found in this novel but, to be honest, I was simply entertained by the author's talent with words. I'll think about and try to figure out all that underlying stuff later. Much later! For something cultural, there’s The Society of the Four Arts. It has a beautiful garden. They rotate exhibitions. Oh! Green’s Pharmacy. It's been around forever. It has the best soda fountain, vanilla milkshake, and grilled cheese. Will be visiting Sydney in February and as a fan would love to visit Home and Away location - where do you get bus? what number is it? and finally how long does it take? were not there on a day that a tour takes place. In 1937, photographer Cecil Beaton summed up a trip to Palm Beach as: “Tennis, swimming, lunch. Golf, drinks, dinner. The Patio. Bradley’s. Bed.” 80 years later, there may be some new stores on Worth Avenue, but the Beaton-described spirit of Palm Beach is the same: a place of retro luxury where leisure sports and tropical tradition reign supreme.

Rebecca then surprises herself when she accepts an offer from Mrs. Stone to work as her ghostwriter. Soon after, she finds herself invited as a regular guest at the Stone's high-powered dinners. There wasn't a character I didn't like, even the devious ones and there were a few. I love characters that are a bit edgy and Mrs. Stone was definitely that. I feel the same way about quirky characters and Mr. Stone delivered, along with being a bit unintentionally comical. I thought the author did a great job in making all characters interesting and memorable, even those who just popped in for dinner! Tom Turner is a reputed writer from America, who is famous for writing crime, fiction, thriller, and mystery novels. He is particularly famous for writing the Charlie Crawford Mystery series. His mystery books have done very well and have helped him in establishing himself as a noteworthy author. Turner is a native of New England. After the completion of his college studies, he stayed in Vermont and was involved in running a bar for some time. He shifted to New York after a few years and started working in an advertising agency. Author Turner held the post of a copywriter in a number of advertising agencies in Manhattan and also won several awards for his work. After spending many years in this line of work, he decided to undergo a radical change and shifted his focus to commercial real estate. This job landed him in Palm Beach after several years, where he bought, renovated, and sold plots and houses. The place attracted him so much that he ended up writing mystery stories set in Palm Beach. My love and passion for collecting books began as a young child. It was out of a devotion to preserving these incredible pieces of history and culture that this business of buying and selling rare books naturally evolved over twenty years ago. Thanks to our many great clients who share our affections, we have succeeded in building one of the world’s premier collections of signed and inscribed first editions and documents in all fields, with particular attention to the subjects of Literature, Americana, Science, Economics, and Intellectual History.

I received an ARC of this book, and I wasn't at all sure that it was my kind of book (not to mention, I wasn’t a fan of the cover! lol), but once I started it, I couldn't put it down until I finished the entire thing! Once in Palm Beach, Douglas Fairbanks was with my grandmother. I had a group of friends over, and people were swimming in the pool, some with their clothes on. It was quite wild. I was like, "Oh no, we shouldn't be doing this in front of my grandmother and Douglas Fairbanks!” a href="https://www.papercitymag.com/society/aerin-lauder-houston-visit-longoria-collection/?city=Houston#255399" target="_blank">Heiress and Beauty Icon Draws an Impressive, Stylish Crowd in Houston, Sells Out of Books in No Time, Paper City Magazine Online (USA), November 2019

But okay, slow plot isn't the worst sin in the world. I love Catcher in the Rye and nothing even happens in that book. But Catcher is engagingly written, whether you love it or hate it. This was like reading . . . nothing. It had almost no voice. It was like a dessert that only tastes like sugar, and you're like-- wait, that's it? Early in the 1900s, one-time oil baron Henry Morrison Flagler took interest in the Southern coast of Florida and began developing an exclusive resort community. Establishing a railroad that would allow easier access to the area, he went on to build two hotels—his hope was that America’s first families would come to populate the area. This modest community would later evolve into an iconic American destination, hosting British royalty, American movie stars, and becoming the home-away-from-home to some of the country’s leading families. As the century continued, Palm Beach established itself as a luxury hideaway synonymous with old-world glamour and new-world sophistication.

Usually for me, the only books that fall under that category are juicy thrillers, but there was something about Palm Beach that hooked me and wouldn’t let me go! Her husband calls her out on this, and it doesn't work out for her. The FBI gets involved. But does she grow from this? No, she just kind of. weathers it and life goes on. She's never reflective. She never thinks about anything she does. She doesn't change. In her dining room was that iconic blue Gracie wallpaper with the birds that she had in all of her homes. There was lots of blue and white within the home. The living room was blue and white, the sun room was blue and white, the bedroom was blue and white, her bathroom was blue and white. She had this fantastic turquoise bathtub. To this day, I am still looking for a turquoise bathtub. As Home and Away fans we had to visit Palm Beach on our recent trip to Sydney and so glad we did. Not only was Palm Beach great but the other towns we passed through on the way felt a million miles away from the city. This remarkable book gives readers the chance to live a fun, adventure-filled year in Palm Beach and to see how one couple came to find out what was most important to them and how they wanted to live the rest of their life. I guess there are spoilers in this review, but for there to be spoilers, there would have to be a plot to spoil, and there isn't. Rebecca, a journalist, finds herself working with the Stones as well. Her career takes off and it would seem that their lives were on a smooth glide path. Fate was not initially kind, their infant son Bash is diagnosed with an unexpected, rare, life threatening problem. If the surf is too rough, there is always the calmer waters of Pitwater on the western side of the peninsular to have a dip. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

in my opinion there is certainly not enough development of our characters as there could have been, which is a major point of regret - like what is Paul's deal? the Stone daughter? the main plotline ties up sooo neatly but that means there's very little regard for anything else that was brought up. Pizza Alfresco is great—right on Worth Avenue, it’s an adorable pizza and salad place and you eat in a Mizner garden. Sant Ambroeus is a wonderful new addition to the area.

Sprinkles Ice Cream is an institution to me. It has the best homemade ice cream and, of course, sprinkles. Then there’s the Breakers hotel, which has been there for so many years. It has something for everyone—golf, tennis, croquet, and games for children. Plus, there’s hamburgers, seafood bar. And they just redid their spa, it's incredible. Palm Beach style is very feminine, elegant, colorful with an ease to it. I love to wear a long Pucci dress and casual, festive earrings. I think Palm Beach is also somewhere you can have fun with jewelry—it is the tropics, you're on holiday! I'm always carrying a little straw clutch. You dedicated this book to your grandparents, Joseph and Estée. What is your favorite Palm Beach memory with them? Basically, I listened to this audiobook on 1.25 speed and then bumped it up to 1.5 and then bumped it up to 2 and then bumped it up to 2.25 and then bumped it up to 2.5 and then bumped it up to 2.75 and listened to the vast majority of this book at 2.75 speed. There was nothing wrong with doing this, because nothing happened in this book that meant anything. So I didn't have to worry about missing anything important at least?
