About this deal

This is such a funny book there were parts that literally made me do a very embarrassing laughter snort.

He also created and wrote I Hate You for Channel 4, starring Tanya Reynolds and Melissa Saint. It dropped on All 4 in September 2022 and aired on C4 in October 2022. In the tradition of the Henry Root letters comes a new collection of letters that do what the title describes. The time wasted, however, is not the reader's - only the terminally humourless could fail to be delighted by this volume - but that of the many put-upon secretaries and public relations officials who have been naive enough to take Robin Cooper's enquiries seriously and respond to them. The Timewaster Letters Compendium brings together The Timewaster Letters and Return of the Timewaster Letters along with exclusive audio content. There’s a new Introduction by Popper, a chat with Serafinowicz reflecting on the 20 years since Popper sent off his first fateful letter. Plus, a world exclusive - The Cement Murder Mystery, the first thriller story penned by Robin Cooper himself and read by Jonathan Keeble. We don’t want to make promises, but it might also be the worst-written story of all time. Robert and Peter created the online afterlife comedy, The Other Side (Radio Spiritworld), as well as the online world religion, Tarvuism ( www.tarvu.com).Popper wrote on the fourteenth series of South Park; he was signed up by creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker following a week-long brainstorming session, and worked on the final four episodes of the first half-season. [7] okay okay I admit it I'm cheating a little bit I didn't read this book but the audiobook of the compilation of the three books but after getting to the end of book one I just couldn't do anymore. I felt like I deserved some credit for what I did get through and there is no audiobook for book one by itself so here I am. Under his pseudonym, Robin Cooper, he wrote The Timewaster Letters books, which have so far sold over 300,000 copies.

You’ll also get to hear a selection of Popper’s world-famous prank phone calls, in which he poses as the hapless and hopeless Robin Cooper. A pilot of Friday Night Dinner was recently produced in the US for NBC by Greg Daniels, creator of King of The Hill, and US producer of The Office. Robert recently starred alongside Steve Coogan in Sky’s forthcoming ‘Alan Partidge on Open Books’ which goes out in July. The second series of Friday Night Dinner starts on Channel 4 on October 7th, along with a Christmas Special at – well, Christmas. There are a few moments that raised the odd smile – I liked his letter to the Halibut Society, for instance, and I did laugh out loud once (but only once – and I forget why). The humour here though just doesn’t work. Cooper simply tries too hard to be funny and it comes out forced, obvious and looking a little pathetic. In an attempt at making the recipients look foolish, all he actually manages to do is to make himself look like a childish, attention seeking, asinine idiot and in actual fact, the beneficiaries come out of this remarkably well. This book, then, is a compendium of pointlessness and absurdity – Popper’s alter-ego, Robin Cooper, is a meandering, well-meaning, but daft individual who wastes everyone’s time with a relentless series of utterly irrelevant, often bizarre or inappropriate, letters to all manner of industries and organisations across the UK. Here’s an example: Reynolds, Charlie (28 November 2020). "The Herts school where Borat actor and Matt Lucas were pupils". HertsLive . Retrieved 14 March 2021. I used to watch BBC all the time. But now we get BBCA but I found recently that the same shows are there. My Brit friends don’t believe I just discovered Dr Who. We go more for violence here. I did take an online course through BBC . Classic Theatre , I , Claudius it was. I will be on the look out for Peep Show. Is there any violence at all?

In addition to the two Timewaster books, The Timewaster Letters Compendium will feature a host of audio exclusive content, including many of Popper’s ridiculously silly prank telephone calls, in which he poses as Robin Cooper. There’s also an introduction by Popper himself, a fun, informative conversation between Popper and Peter Serafinowicz all about the history of The Timewaster Letters, and a world exclusive with ‘The Cement Murder Mystery’, the first thriller story (and possibly the world’s worst thriller story) penned by Robin Cooper himself, and read by Jonathan Keeble. Robin Cooper is, of course, the infamous creation of comedy polymath Robert Popper. Cooper has been on the wrong end of many a broadcast telephone conversation, from radio phone-ins to TV sports talk shows, and wrote the Timewaster Letters series. On a final note, if you’ve not come across the Peep Show before then it’s one of the best sitcoms from British shores for some time. It ran from 2003 to 2015 and turned its cast, particularly David Mitchell and Robert Webb, into stars. In 2009 Popper and Serafinowicz wrote, produced, and performed in a 30-minute podcast entitled The Other Side. The comedy purported to be a radio show coming from the only radio station ("Radio Spiritworld") to broadcast from the afterlife. Robert and Peter also created the online world religion, " Tarvuism", making a variety of shorts. The pair created a number of web videos on YouTube showcasing their surreal humour, including "Birds of Britain", "Markets of Britain" and "Intermission". [ citation needed] What makes these letters glorious is the flawless deadpan of Cooper's style - 'Thank you ever so much for your charming letter of 12 March (the date, incidentally, of my mother's birthday!) But that is, sadly, irrelevant' - which engenders entirely serious responses - 'Dear Mr Cooper, I'm afraid we have been unable to identify the manufacturer of your wife's hair station and are therefore unable to help you'.
